Later that evening, after giving Lorie her bath and putting her to bed, I was sitting up in my bed with the table lamp on, reading one of the books from the library. The list of reference material Professor Jones gave us was extensive. (I would like to have information from every book in my essay, but that might not be very practical.) There certainly was a lot to read. I was really thankful that the professor allowed us some time to work on our projects because it was more than likely going to take some time to do.

Deep in thought, I faintly heard the sound of tapping. It took me a few seconds to come back to reality, but when I heard the tapping again, I realized it was coming from the window across the room to my left. I placed the book down on the bedside table, still open to the page I was reading. Walking over to the window cautiously, I opened it only to be startled by a bird flying into the room. Its feathers were white with specs of charcoal gray and black. Its beak was also black. A beautiful snowy white owl with light blue eyes. It flew around the ceiling for a few seconds before settling on top of the back of the armchair near the window. I was amazed by the beauty in its image. "Well, hello there. Aren't you a sight to see." It squawked at me, which was a sweet and soft sound.
