When I woke up I saw Peter asleep in the armchair. I stretched my limbs and took a deep breath, which stirred him enough to wake. He stood up from the chair to come sit on the edge of the bed next to me. "Good afternoon, Lydia. How are you feeling?" he asked as he moved hair out of my eyes. "Afternoon? You mean I slept all morning? Why didn't you wake me for school?" I asked as I tried to sit up in haste. My body rejected the sudden movement, having become dizzy. I moaned in pain and laid back down. "Shh... You need to take it easy, Lydia." "But I was supposed to get Lorie ready for her class field trip this morning. Did she get there to the bus in time?" "Yes, but that was yesterday. You have been asleep for more than twenty four hours." "I... what?" "Yes, you had all of us worried. I told Nicolae that I would not leave your side until you woke." "You mean you didn't go to school?"

"No, I stayed home to take care of you." (Oh, Peter! You surprise me more and more each day with how wonderful you are.) He must have sensed how I was feeling because he smiled and leaned over to kiss my forehead. Suddenly, my stomach grumbled out loud. I was quickly inflicted with hunger pains, causing me to moan and turn over onto my left side, facing Peter. I brought my knees up to my chest, laying in a fetal position. "You're hungry! Just lay still. I will be right back."

A few minutes passed before Peter returned. When he did he was carrying a tray with beautiful china placed upon it. The room filled with the aroma of the sausage links, scrambled eggs, and wheat toast with butter and strawberry slices on it. Along with the plate of the breakfast food was a bowl of fruit with sliced banana, raspberries, blueberries, and chopped watermelon squares. There was also a teacup filled with mint flavored tea. What I loved the most was the added touch of a single red rose inside a slender clear crystal vase.

Peter told me he put honey and a few drops of lemon juice in my tea and asked me to try it to make sure he got the taste to my liking. Asking me to sit up, so he could serve me in bed just warmed my heart. I did so and he placed the tray over my lap. Then he moved to go sit down in the armchair again. "Peter, you don't have to sit so far away. You can come sit here next to me if you want," I said while smiling at him. He grinned and stood up to walk around to the right side of the bed, which was closest to the bedroom door.

My eyes followed his movements until he was close to me. I took a bite of one of the sausages and turned my head towards Peter because his face was getting closer to mine. He unexpectedly kissed me on the lips even though I still had food in my mouth. The action made me giggle. Slightly muffled, I spoke with a mouthful of food, "Pedthur!" "What?" he answered with his lip curled up on the left side. "You were just too cute to resist, sitting there eating and beaming with happiness."

I almost lost my countenance with that wonderful statement, but I continued, "But I had food in my mouth. Doesn't it taste like ash or something horrible like that?" "It's not that it has a horrible taste. Food doesn't have a taste at all for vampires." He moved his head in close to kiss me again. "So when I kiss you.... like this.... I am only tasting.... you on my lips, Lydia...." he said in between kisses. (*Internal Screaming* I think I just died. Oh, my heart!)
