'We are sorry to announce his memory loss. Seems like he doesn't remember anything around the recent months. But we assure his wounds and broken leg were all healed. Especially the clots in his brain disappeared mysteriously...All I can say is, miracles do exist in this world.'

'Is it possible to have his memories recovered?' Soobin asked holding on a tinge of hope.

'It depends case by case. Since we didn't find abnormalities from the check-ups, it can be a psychological factor.'

'Can I take a look at my phone? May help me remember things.' Taehyun asked.

Unforunately, his phone was damaged during the strike. His friends had taken his phone to repair but couldn't be fixed.

They further consulted the doctor to help with his lost memory and soon Beomgyu interrupted them. 'You don't remember what happened before we were hospitalized?' Beomgyu asked the younger, Taehyun shook his head.

'And these?' Beomgyu picked up the bracelet he made for him from the bedside cabinet. Again, Taehyun shook his head cluelessly. He had no idea why a bracelet with Beomgyu's name was placed there.

Beomgyu clenched the hem of his shirt, chewing his bottom lips to prevent tears pricking out his eyelids.

Maybe one night wasn't enough for him to be mentally prepared.

'Hyung, I am fine, please don't cry. I lost some memories but I still remember you, you will always be my BFF, my dear brother.' Taehyun turned to him with a genuine smile, resting his hand on his shoulder, attempted to reassure him.

On the edge of  emotions, Beomgyu hastened out of the room, the other three followed him.

'Some memories'

It was some memories to him-

But it was everything to Beomgyu-

After the aliens left, Beomgyu made a group call explaining the truth. The aliens were capable to restore Taehyun's body(including his memories) to a certain point of time, but of course the magic on Beomgyu was withdrawn as a fair trade.

Beomgyu was all insecure about whether Taehyun would continue their relationship when he became a boy again. What if Taehyun didn't want to date a boy? Would he be very disappointed when the female version of him no longer existed?

So he made up his mind asking the aliens to reset the injured boy to the time before all magic happened. This way Beomgyu could still, at least, be his brother, not an ex.

For he had brought enough troubles to people around him already, he decided to clear the existence of 'Choi Beomie' and pick up the responsibilities of 'Choi Beomgyu'.

'I am a liar, I don't deserve his love. Promise me, don't tell him anything.' Beomgyu found no one to blame besides himself.

'Gyu...you're really fine with that?' Yeonjun asked as he saw Beomgyu's puffy eyes, definitely he still loved Taehyun, he was bearing all to himself.

'What can I do then? It's not the same now, I'm a boy, not his girlfriend.' As he talked, the three realized the adam apple on his throat.

Everything Beomgyu wished for crumbled like a sand castle.

He peeked into the room, Taehyun was pigging out the meal provided by the nurse, looking lively as before, Beomgyu dried his tears and returned to his normal breath.

His pain was worthy as long as the one he loved was safe and healthy. Moreover, he won't cause inconvenience to others again.

Later the police came for investigation. Taehyun couldn't help, he didn't remember anything about the event.

Beomgyu was the only one owned the truth, he and his friends compromised to make up something like they were attacked by a random gang. Though all of them were enraged by Hyejin's brother, it was Beomgyu's choice to let the veracity of the incident sank to the bottom of the sea so Taehyun would be far from the facts, far from anything between him and Beomie.

The police received files that the victims were a boy and a girl, so as the hospital, however the record of his ID card was a male, same as the one giving them the affidavits, so they assumed something wrong with filing or the medical workers encountered some déjà vu.

After the long and tired inquiries, Taehyun's parents came, exchanging some grateful and encouraging words, they asked the adolescents to go home and take a rest.

Not dared to look at Taehyun again, Beomgyu left with the others.

@Beomgyu's room

It was a long long night that he wouldn't be able to fall asleep. Overwhelmed by thoughts and wistful feelings, the streams of tears never ceased, carrying the memories he cherished the most. Just like the drops sopping his pillow would vapor, he hoped the agony would fade away as time passed.

He closed his eyes, beautiful scenes scrolled through his mind like a zoetrope, from his confession to their commitment, even the bed he was lying at was evocative for the times they were in each other's arms, the body temperature that slowly heated up from their hugs to their kisses.

(The Rose - Insomnia lyrics for this chapter)

Just go away
Stay here in my heart
Just go away
Stay here in my heart

I can't sleep
Grab onto me
I can't sleep
I'm going back

I know I'm stupid
What can I do about that?
I have so many thing
I couldn't do

I close my eyes and count the stars,
I still can't sleep
Why are you still here

Next time when they matched their eyes again, they won't be lovers anymore.

Could he be a qualified brother for him? Could he act his character perfectly?

Why didn't he ask the aliens to erase his memories as well?

The answer was simple, because somewhere in his heart, he still wanted to keep them. And somewhere in his heart, he still hoped for a bit of fluke.

The sun rose together with the thoughts. He remembered the football competition was going to be held at their college today.

It was 7am, he made a phone call with his cracked voice-'Sorry captain, I know I am a bastard all time...can I come back for today's match?'

'If Hyunjin didn't hurt his leg, don't think about it. We still haven't forgiven you but for now, join us.'
