Anna rushed down from the stands - nearly tripping over her own two feet as she raced towards the medical tent, her mouth twisted in an odd mix of anxiety and excitement.

“Lillian Anna!” She heard when she finally arrived, and she saw Cedric give her one of his beaming smiles from where he was sitting up in his medical cot.

“Hey - I didn’t realize you were hurt.” Anna began, pausing as she stopped to chew on the inside of her cheek. She walked over to him - eyeing the bandages running from up and down his arms and half of his face.

To be fully honest, the only reason she had been in the medical tent in the first place was to check up on Harry. Guilt swirled in her gut as she swallowed. “You feeling okay?”

“It’s nothing too horrible.” He said honestly, waving his arms back and forth. “Madam Pomfrey used this orange salve that took away most of it. She said I’d be all healed by tomorrow.”

Cedric’s voice was light, but his smile didn’t reach his eyes.

She was about to ask again, but she was interrupted by a black blur, and suddenly, Cho Chang was in front of her - fretting over Cedric worriedly. “Oh Ced, I saw everything that happened and I was so worried. Your transfiguration was so good but just-” Her tears stopped as she narrowed her eyes - looking more frustrated than upset. “Don’t scare me like that again!”

Cedric grinned sheepishly, and Anna was relieved when she saw the sparkle return to his eyes. “Sorry, Cho.”

Anna gestured behind herself awkwardly. “They’re probably announcing the scores soon. We should get out there.”

“Oh. Right!” Cho helped Cedric up. “C’mon Cedric! They’ve better given you a good score or..”

Cho’s voice drifted off as the two mixed into the crowd, but Anna guessed her nerves hadn’t fully recovered from the stress of worrying about Harry and Cedric’s first task when someone lightly poked her from behind, and she jumped twenty feet in the air.

“Draco,” She said breathlessly, taking deep breaths before slapping him angrily on the arm. “Draco Malfoy - you nearly gave me a heart attack!” Anna accused.

He only rolled his eyes. “Great. So we’re even from the entire Starglass sitch.”

Her pale cheeks flooded with embarassment, but then her hands were suddely, inexplicably full with a small paper bag and a disposable cup. Anna looked down in confusion. “Draco, what’s-”

“A piece of apple galette and some chamomile tea. I assume you haven’t had anything for breakfast, so I figured I’d deliver.”

Anna raised an eyebrow - wondering how he knew her favourite go-to breakfast, but he only shrugged. “I just grabbed the first bread-thing in front of me, and my mother likes to drink chamomile when she’s stressed, so…”

 “Thank you.” She said quietly.

“You can’t live off coffee.” Draco only mumbled in return, but a deep flush covered the back of his neck.

Since Draco had brought her food, Anna figured she’d spare his masculine pride as she tugged at the bottom of his sleeve. “Come on - let’s go see the scores.”

The two made their way to where the judges were sitting - Draco wise enough not to show off his POTTER STINKS! badge to the other Slytherins they passed - until they close enough to see the scores.

She beamed in pride, noticing Harry had tied first place with Krum, responding to Draco’s mumbled profanities at Harry's achievement as she dug the bottom of her heel into his toes.

“What was that for?” He grumbled after initialling shouting out, causing a few onlookers to stare.

“For doubting my brother.” Anna returned evenly. She poked him in the chest. “You know, it wouldn’t kill you to stop being a huge prick to Harry and my friends.”

“I’m nice to the Weasley girl,” He pointed out. “Besides, someone has to be the Golden Trio’s archnemesis.”

“You, Crabbe and Goyle?” She deadpanned.

“No. The two of us. I'm sure we could defeat them easily.” Draco bent down to her ear level. “As I’m aware, you are an Animagus.” He whispered before straightening himself up. “That gives our duo a huge advantage - don’t you think?”

Anna fought down her blush as she shoved him lightly, but he kept laughing, but stopped abruptly as Cedric arrived.

“Hey - you want to walk back to the castle together?” He asked, his hazel eyes earnest - though it was impossible to miss the flicker of jealousy that flashed in his face. His expression hardened when he met Draco's stare.

“Um, sure.” Anna only said - figuring it was the least she could do, since after all, she hadn’t been able to be by his side when the scores first came out. She waved back at. Draco with a small smile. “I’ll see you later.”

Draco nodded, his expression guarded as Cedric led her away.

But as the distance between them grew further and further, a pang hit her as she realized how much she wished that Draco was the one she walked home with. A heavy stone settled in her stomach.

Draco Malfoy was a stubborn, hard-headed bully - the same one who had made her cough up slugs in her first year and insulted her almost daily. She couldn’t like him that way.

    Or could she?
