Anna had so many questions, but she willed herself not to jump to conclusions. She refused to become that girl. The girl who made a fool of herself if she ever saw her boyfriend talking to someone of the opposite sex. That girl could've been Cedric's sister for all she knew.
Cedric never really talked about his family. Though she knew they loved him, and that Cedric loved them, he still tended to close up whenever anyone mentioned it. Cedric had always had this desire to make his father proud, but to him, it was like he could never measure up.
"Cedric!" She called out, giving him her best smile as she came through the crowd, the girl she had seen before still at his side giving Anna a wave. "Lillian Anna!" He responded, turning to the girl.
She was pretty - with long raven hair and dark almond eyes. Anna observed her lips were a cherry red as the girl gave her a bright crimson smile. “Lillian Anna, this is Cho Chang. She’s an old family friend.” He introduced them, and a rush of shame overcame Anna for assuming anything else.
“Hi, Anna - or is it Lillian Anna? Anyway, Cedric’s told me all about you!” She exclaimed - her eyes bright and cheerful. Anna gave Cho her own smile. “All good things I hope.” Anna said, shaking Cho’s hand graciously. “And it’s just Anna. Cedric’s just an oddball.” She said, giving her boyfriend a playful smirk as he laughed, wrapping an arm around Anna’s shoulders.
Cho giggled, though another emotion flickered in her eyes. “Well, you two look great together.” She said when a woman called her name from behind her, pointing at her wrist angrily. “Well, I have to go - I’ll see you two at school!” And with a wink, she was off.
“She’s nice.” Anna only said after Cho and her parents disappeared into the crowd. “I like her.” She said, give Cedric a smile. “Yeah, she’s ok. We’ve known each other since we were in diapers.” He said vaguely, and Anna raised an eyebrow. “Why didn’t you ever tell me about her?”
“I never really talked to her until...well...you had your accident..” He trailed off. Cedric had never told Anna what he had felt like when Anna was almost killed by Pettigrew, but his honey-gold eyes always seemed to darken, and Anna knew better than to ask. If anyone knew that some things were just best left unsaid, it was her.
“Hey,” She said, brushing the hair from his eyes so he was looking straight into hers. “You know you can tell me anything, right?” Anna only wished she could take her own advice and tell him all the secrets that she carried.
The edges of his lips lifted into a smile. “I’ve missed you this summer, Lillian Anna.” He only said, pressing his mouth onto hers.

That night, Anna felt lighter, finally feeling like all the issues between Cedric and her were resolved as Harry, her, and the rest of the Weasleys made cocoa by the fire - arguing comfortably about the match. They were in another one of their verbal replays when Ginny had fallen asleep, spilling her hot chocolate over the floor, and Mr. Weasley had insisted that everyone go to bed.
Even as the girls went to bed in the tent next to the boys, dressing in their pajamas and clambering into their bunks, Anna could still hear the singing and drums from the other side of the campsite.
But as she lay in bed - stuck in a strange place between reality and sleep, she still wasn’t sure when the singing had transformed into horrified screams.
