~Niall's Point of View~

About an hour or two later Liam had suddenly slammed his book shut, proclaiming that we shouldn't be wasting valuable time and that sorting out the rest of the loose ends needed to be done as soon as possible.

He is the leader for a reason.

So Liam and I were once again waiting on the quartet to show up, only this time we were comfortable enough to allow them into our hotel room instead of opting for one of the meeting rooms. It was not only safer, but it'd also give us more privacy, which was essential.

Soon enough they arrived, late.

"Sorry! We went and grabbed a bite to eat first. I didn't think we'd take so long," Luke explained sheepishly as they filed in; I didn't miss the grin on Michael's face, so I assumed he had something to do with it.

"It's fine," Liam dismissed.

We got straight to work after that, filling them in till there was nothing more that could be said. All that was left now was to tie up the remainder of the loose ends. One thing needed to be discussed beforehand, though.

"So, what're each of your abilities?" I asked, still having yet to actually know.

Throughout I had noticed that Ashton contributed often, but he continuously looked as though he weren't entirely complacent, and for the millionth time I found myself wishing I had my ability back. I wanted to see what had happened after they'd first left; and whether it was a form of privacy invasion or not, I also wanted to keep tabs. Liam and I can't take any risks at this point. He might have full faith in them, but I'm still a little iffy.

Back to Ashton... As soon as the question was out in the air, he tensed further. I had kept a close eye on the other three as well, noting that Calum and Michael were easily fully involved, but if Luke's taut shoulders were anything to go by, then he knew exactly what was wrong.

Something's happened between the two.

I wanted to ask about it, but after earliers happenings I ruled against it. For the moment, at least.

"Wait, you don't know?" Calum cocked an eyebrow questioningly.

"Yeah, isn't that like, the main reason you're here?" Michael added.

Luke looked at me, rolling his eyes and shaking his head at the pair. "Give him a break guys. He's met us like, once before? And that was a long time ago."

I shrugged. "Yeah. It's not like we're BFFS." I didn't miss the small look the curly haired guy gave the blonde; kind of like an 'I told you so'. I really hate being 'blind'.

"Touché." Calum crossed his arms over his chest as he perched on the desk. "Anyways, I'm a mind tricker; I trick minds."

"Nah, really?" Michael gasped sarcastically. "I had no idea that's what a mind tricker did."

"Shut up, Michael," Brown eyes narrowed on the aforementioned pale guy. I really wanted to laugh right then. These guys are testing my will-power.

I placed a hand over my mouth instead and cleared my throat, trying to gather my bearings, before saying, "Alright. Exactly how can ya trick minds?"
