Chapter 16: Karma is a Bitch

~Kokichi's POV~

Today was the day I would plan on how to get everyone back. I was writing down a potential plan on my whiteboard. I had to do this mission alone. I don't want to worry Shuichi also I don't want him to be in danger because of me. It was maybe four in the morning so hopefully, I don't wake up The sleeping beauty. I started packing up a bag of necessities. I heard a groan come from Shuichi. I looked over and saw his eyes slowly open. He immediately looked scared, probably because I wasn't in the bed.

"Shumai don't worry I'm right here," I said.

"What're you doing up?" He asked.

"I just couldn't sleep so-"

"The truth."

"I'm planning on getting everyone back."

"Do you mean undoing the brainwashing on DICE? Were you planning on going alone?"

"Maybe."

"Kokichi, that's way too dangerous! I'm going with you!"

"But I don't want you to get hurt or worse."

"No buts!"

I sighed.

"Now let's both get some sleep."

I suddenly got flashbacks to the nightmare I had. The whole reason I wanted to go alone. I started shaking in fear and crystal tears fell down my cheeks.

"Kokichi, what's wrong?"

"Whenever I gain something that gives me a purpose in life I always lose it eventually. I just fear what if you're the next one I have to watch die. Being unable to do anything about it. I don't want to lose you."

"You won't. I know that because no matter what I'll stay with you forever. That won't end or change anytime soon. I will never let that happen. I promise."

He put out his pinky and said, "I want you to promise the same."

I linked my pinky finger with his.

"I promise," I said.

He kissed my hand. I blushed but immediately shook it off. We both got back under the covers. I cuddled up to him as he protectively wrapped his arms around me.

"I love you Kokichi."

"I love you too Shuichi."

By now we had a few plans on how to get everyone back. Plan A was we would sneak into the torture chamber and avoid any brain-dead guards. Also, undo the brainwashing after we get everyone out. Plan B was to go against Akamatsu-Chan personally and while the other one is distracting her we can get them back. Plan C was to ask them all to meet up with us, but since they're brainwashed. It definitely wouldn't succeed. Shuichi and I were walking in the park discussing what the best course of action would be. I kept having non-stop panic attacks, luckily Shuichi was there to calm me down. Everything that's happened lately has taken a toll on me.

We kept chatting until I felt someone tap my shoulder. I turned around to see a girl with gray hair and piercing red eyes. Her hair was in two intricate braids like pigtails. She wore white glasses on her face.

"May I and my young master speak with you?" She asked.

"Who's this so-called young master of yours?" I responded.

She pointed at a blonde-haired man with an eyepatch. He's the guy I bumped into at Sonia-chan's ball. He also leads the yakuza. His name is Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu. This girl here is Peko Pekoyama. She's his bodyguard.
