For the second night in a row, Hinata stood outside Kageyama's house as Kageyama fiddled with his key. He was excited– he had only been at Karasuno for a day and they were already having a sleepover with a classmate!– but also extremely nervous. He hadn't had a sleepover with anyone other than Kenna and occasionally Kuroo for the longest time. What would they talk about? What would they do? What if Kageyama got bored and wanted to leave?

"Oi, dumbass," Kageyama's voice rang, snapping Hinata back to reality. Kageyama was already in the house, taking off his shoes. "Coming?"

"Oh! Yeah," Hinata said sheepishly, entering the home. Kageyama guided him to the same couch they sat on the night before and Hinata watched Kageyama run up the stairs and turn a corner. First they sat there, fiddling with his sleeves, hoping Kageyama would come back down quickly. Frankly, Hinata wanted to get home as soon as possible-- they wanted the awkward stage to be over with, and for them to be comfortable around each other as soon as possible. After awhile of waiting, Hinata decided to pull out his phone and text a certain someone.

Hinata: soooooo I probably wont talk much tonight

Mr meanie: me neither

Hinata: oooooh what's up with you?

Mr meanie: nothing

Hinata: lame

Hinata: guess what I'm doing

Mr meanie: homework?

Yeah, right, Hinata thought with a smile.

Hinata: a sleepover with a certain attractive setter

Mr meanie: use protection or sth

Mr meanie: idk

Hinata: SIR IM A CHILD

Hinata: it's nothing like thatttttt

Hinata: I'm pretty sure hes straight which is a tragedy but hes fun to have around so I'll live

Mr meanie: oh dang

Mr meanie: guess you'll have to settle for me

Hinata felt his face burn up. Is this guy for real? It's not like they minded– Meanie was nice enough, and his teasing wasn't mean in a bad way, but Hinata felt weird about having feelings for two guys at once, even if those feelings were small and insignificant.

Mr meanie: idk why I said that🧍‍♂️

Hinata: omg am I your gay awakening🤪

Mr meanie: god I hate that emoji

Hinata: ignoring the question I see

Mr meanie: shut up

Mr meanie: dumbass

Mr meanie: I gtg now

As Hinata read that text, they heard a door upstairs open.

Hinata: danggg good timing

Hinata: byeeeeee

Hinata watched as Kageyama walked down the stairs, a sports bag in one and and his phone in the other. He was smiling down at the screen and his face was a bit flushed. The smaller spiker began tugging at their sleeves once again. Kageyama looked up from his phone, his face going back to its usual stone cold self. "Ready?"

"Aaaand we're here!" Hinata said, running up and jumping onto his front steps. They began fiddling with a house key as Kageyama walked up to the steps. Once he got it unlocked, Hinata opened the front door with one swift motion. "Come on in!"

Hinata's family clearly hadn't done much unpacking yet– the rooms Kageyama could see were scarcely furnished and moving boxes were scattered everywhere. Despite the clutter, a little girl with the same hair as Hinata played with dolls on the floor as a woman Kageyama assumed was Hinata's mother cooked. The woman looked over her shoulder and smiled. "Shoyo! How was your first day?"

"Classes were as boring as the old school," Hinata shrugged, slipping their shoes off onto a mat and walking towards the kitchen. Kageyama quickly took his shoes off and followed, feeling awkward around the happy family. "Volleyball practice was awesome though! It was like WHAM, and POW, and WOOSH!"

Hinata's mother nodded, clearly confused by her child's description but trying to go song with it anyways. After awhile of Hinata's weird sound effects, she looked over his head. "Aren't you gonna introduce your friend?"

"Oh!" Hinata looked up at Kageyama and smiled. "Ma, this is Kageyama."

"It's nice to meet you," Kageyama forced out. He was never the best with introductions. Despite how stiff and awkward he undoubtedly looked, Hinata's mother smiled sweetly at him.

"It's nice to meet you too, Kageyama," she said, before turning her attention back to her cooking. "Supper will be ready soon, unless you boys want to order something or go out somewhere. It's up to you."

As Hinata's mother spoke, the little girl had walked up to the setter and looked up at him with wide eyes. Kageyama, looked back at her, unsure of how to talk to children. "Uh–"

"Are you Shoyo's boyfriend?"

The question was innocent enough, but extremely blunt and embarrassing. Both Kageyama and Hinata's faces went red, and Hinata chuckled nervously. "Where'd you get that idea, Natsu?" They asked, picking up the young girl. She shrugged in his arms.

"He's not Kenma," she said plainly, clearly unaware of how embarrassing her question had been. Hinata rolled his eyes, lifting Natsu above his head.

"You're a stinker," they teased. The young girl laughed, sticking her tongue out at him. It was a sweet sight– had Kageyama been like that with Miwa at a time? He figured they most have been like that when he was younger, but he didn't have much memory of it. Hinata put his sister down and gently nudged her towards her dolls. "Go play now. We're gonna go upstairs." With that, Hinata looked back up at Kageyama and smiled. "Let's go!"
