Mmm.

Hinata was barely conscious, only partially awake due to the harsh noises of their alarm clock. His eyes were still glued shut and his mind wasn't quite forming words yet. The room was still dark, and their bed was comfier than ever, so it would've been easy to fall back asleep...

...until he rolled over and whacked their head.

"Oh, shit–" he whispered under his breath, reaching up to rub their forehead tenderly.

There was no hope for more shuteye now. Knocking your head off of something may be a bad way to wake up, but also an effective one. They opened their eyes to see something rather unexpected; Kageyama still sound asleep. At first, Hinata was confused. The collision woke them up completely, but it didn't seem to have effected Kageyama at all. How the hell is he still asleep? he wondered, scanning the boy's face with his eyes. Their gaze grew fonder as they continued to stare. Kageyama looked... peaceful. It was the first time Hinata had seen him this way. The setter usually seemed tense, like something serious had to be happening all the time. This was blatantly obvious over text. It wasn't much better in person, either. Even on the rare occasions where he smiled or– God forbid– laughed, he was on edge. But at that moment, Kageyama was truly relaxed. It made Hinata wanna curl up and stay in the bed forever.

    Then, it dawned on him.

    Kageyama's in my bed?

The emotional and chaotic blur that was the night before mixed with their still half-asleep mind made it difficult for Hinata to process that he had woken up next to his crush in a bed they shared. They couldn't believe they had actually shared the bed, or that Kageyama stayed like that the entire night. He hadn't even noticed how close they were, or how stiff his body was from being spooned all night. Their mind was still fuzzy.

Kageyama twitched and his eyes fluttered open. "Morning," he breathed. Hinata watched as he rubbed his eye with one hand and covered his yawn with the other, waiting for the realization to hit Kageyama as it had hit them moments before. While Hinata wasn't sure how Kageyama would react, he had a prett good guess– his eyes would widen, he'd blush like crazy, and he'd try to scoot away from Hinata as much as possible. Kageyama must have noticed Hinata's staring, as he furrowed his eyebrows at the spiker in confusion. "What?"

"Hmm?" Hinata responded, eyebrows shooting up. "Nothing. How'd you sleep?"

    "Could've been better,"

    Rude.

"I woke up stiff," Kageyama continued, still blissfully unaware of his environment.

"Huh," Hinata responded. "Me too. I wonder why that is?"

Kageyama just shrugged in response, rolling into his back and stretching his arms out. There's no way he hasn't noticed yet, Hinata thought to themselves. Right? He can't be that clueless.

"We have practice soon," Kageyama stated, sitting up. "We should get ready." Before Hinata could sit up on the bed, Kageyama was crawling over them, grabbing his pants, and heading to the door. As he reached for the doorknob he paused. He looked back Hinata, still lying down under the covers, with a strange look on his face. This has to be it, right?

    "Can I use your shower?"

    Okay, never mind.

"Yeah, of course," Hinata responded, sitting up. Kageyama gave him a lazy thumbs up and left the room. As the bedroom door softly shut, Hinata out his head in their hands.

"Oh my God, he's clueless,"

"Oh my God, I'm clueless," Kageyama muttered to himself, staring at his reflection in the mirror. He has just dried off from his shower and put his clothes on when he truly processed the events of the night before. That's what Hinata was looking at me funny for, he thought to himself in a slight panic. They think it was weird, don't they? We did kinda cuddle all night– who am I kidding? That was more than kinda.

Carrot top: want anything to eat?

Kageyama's eyes darted down to his screen as soon as he heard the buzz. Is that seriously all he's asking???

Kageyama: sure

Kageyama: I'll be down in a sec

Okay, maybe they don't think it's a big deal, he thought, placing his phone in his pocket. His mind continued to race as he twisted the doorknob. Why doesn't he think it's a big deal? IT'S A REALLY BIG DEAL. He softly closed the bathroom door behind him, being careful not to make too much noise and wake up Hinata's family. Oh God, what if he thought it was weird? He carefully made his way down the staircase and towards the lit kitchen. It was kinda weird, wasn't it? They probably thought it was weird.

As he pushed the kitchen door open, he was met with the sight of the smaller boy, still in their pyjamas, putting bread in the toaster. Hinata looked over his shoulder at the sound of the door and smiled brightly. "Good morning!"

"Morning. Again," the setter responded, standing awkwardly next to the door. He wasn't sure what to do with his hands, and kept going from clasping them together in front of him to putting them in his pockets to placing them by his sides.

"Don't just stand there, weirdo," Hinata teased, nodding to the kitchen table. Kageyama kicked himself mentally for not thinking to sit and shuffled to the table. Hinata turned to the fridge, taking out a carton on milk. "Are you still stiff?" They joked.

"Sorry," Kageyama blurted in response. Hinata cocked his head.

    "For what?"

"Last night. The sleeping thing. It was weird,"

Hinata poured out a glass of milk and slid it to Kageyama. "I didn't think it was weird,"

    Thank fuck.

"Did you think it was weird?" They continued.

    Oh fuck.

"Uh–" Kageyama could feel his cheeks warm. "No! I didn't–"

Hinata laughed as the toast popped up from the toaster. "What's so funny?" Kageyama asked defensively. Hinata shook his head, putting two pieces of toast on both of the plates in front of them.

"You're all flustered. You look like a tomato!" He looked up from the plates. "You like toast, right? What do you want on it?"

"Shut up," Kageyama grumbled, looking down at his hands.

    "That's not a spread,"

    "I said shut up!"

"I'll shut up when you tell me what you want on your toast, alright?!"
