Listening to Galinda yell at Fiyero made me hurt inside. I didn't realize that I hurt her so much. I thought no one would miss me, "Galinda?" I call out with Glinda on my heels.

"Elphie!" My best friend runs to hug me, tears streaming down her cheeks. We hold each other like this for a while until we sink to our knees, "What happened to him?" She asks.

"Well, I didn't want to hurt him, so I made his outfit as ugly as his face," I answer. I had told Glinda that I was 'pulling a Galinda' when I did that. The blonde giggles at my reply, "Should we get going before someone else tries to kill us?"

I nod and help her up, she is quite light. We start walk again in silence our fingers intertwined with each other's. Close to the Emerald City Galinda breaks the eerie quiet.

"I did tried to defend you, ya' know," She states. I remember telling her not to, "I told them what you told me, 'One never learns how the witch became wicked, or whether that was the right choice for her-is it ever the right choice? Does the devil ever struggle to be good again, or if so is he not a devil,' I told that to them every year. But they never listened," I'm speechless. I can't respond to that.

How can I say something.

"Galinda..." That's all I can manage before reaching the city gates.

I get skeptical looks as a pass the guards.  my hand tighter noticing my discomfort.

Walking through the square, everyone looks at me in terror. For my family's sake, I keep my temper in check.

"Right through here," Glinda leads the was into the stairwell to the wizard's chamber. Galinda didn't seem to thrilled about having to walk all the way up in her tall heels. So, as smoothly as I can, I scoop Galinda up into my arms snd run up the stairs.

It only takes two minutes to reach the top. And surprisingly, I'm not out of breath.

"Thanks," Galinda says with a smile.
I can imagine how awkward this must look to my family. But I don't care, we are a package now. You can't have one without the other.

Without knocking, I walk straight into the Wizard's chamber. The over-rated man is standing surprised at his 'throne', "Miss me, Mister 'Oz the Great and Powerful'?" I tease, letting go of Galinda's hand as I walk closer to the jerk who slapped me, "I'm really sorry for the way I acted earlier," I'm lying, obviously. He doesn't deserve an apology.

I move closer, trying to act timid. He is basically gawking at my skin color.

You're probably wondering, "Elphie, what are you planning?" Galinda asks softly.

This.
