Chapter 15

After receiving that note from Draco I was unable to leave my dorm for days, even though I wanted to speak to him desperately. I couldn't bring myself to go to class or dinner because what if I saw him and didn't know what to say? Instead, I just laid in my bed with dried tears staining my cheeks and my precious Cinder curled up into a tight little ball, trying her best to console me. Luna would sneak Exie into my room almost every night to try to cheer me up, they would bring me my homework, dinner from the Great Hall, and talk about their days but I never ate anything, spoke, or felt any better. They'd leave the room with their heads hung low and plates full of untouched food. I didn't want to feel this way but there was a hole inside of me that could never be filled by anyone other than Draco Malfoy, who wanted absolutely nothing to do with me.

How could he tell me we're over? Did he really not care at all?

While the terrible thoughts that had been consuming my mind for the better part of a week began to swirl around  Exie burst through the door.

"Prue I am so sick of you being like this, so either you get out of bed or I will literally Crucio you so you have something to actually cry about!" She shouted.

Luna trailed in after her, a small smile was hidden behind her hand. I turned my back toward them and looked through the window. The sun was still out so they'd come to visit me much earlier than they usually did. I couldn't help but wonder what prompted this deviation from their regularly scheduled visits.

"How is it possible that even threatening her doesn't work? What is she, made of stone?!" I heard Exie huff.

Exie say's the most ridiculous things when she's upset.

Without even thinking a small giggle escaped from my body. The girls rushed over to me and began jumping on my bed which made me laugh even more. It felt so good to finally be able to feel another emotion besides sadness even if it was only for a moment. After the laughter subsided Exie and Luna each took a seat at the foot of the bed. I propped myself up so my back was leaning against the headboard, which was the most movement I'd done in the past few days. My entire body felt stiff, and I heard a few joints crack as I got up. Their eyes were full of worry as they watched me adjust myself so that I could speak to them properly.

"Oh Prue, I was starting to get very concerned." Luna placed her hand on top of mine.

"Yeah, we thought there was something seriously wrong with you! I was getting ready to call someone so they could take you to St. Mungos!" Exie exclaimed.

"St. Mungos?" I repeated.

"Yeah, the hospital for magical maladies and injuries. We thought that maybe you'd been hexed or hurt by a creature or something. Honestly, Luna and I didn't know what to think." Exie replied as she threw her hands up in frustration.

Again a tiny laugh made its way out of my body. I couldn't believe how much these girls cared for me. I don't think I'd ever had anyone in my life show this much concern for my well-being.

The girls informed me that the reason they'd come to my dorm so early was to make sure that I'd be at the first meeting of Dumbledor's Army. They told me that the DA had finally found a safe spot away from Umbridge's prying eyes to practice spells. The place was called the Room of Requirement and the meeting was going to be held there at 8 pm. Luna also told me aside from everything I'd missed every single one of our friends was worried about me, even Theo. Apparently, it had gotten to the point where even Harry had annoyed Exie because he hadn't stopped asking for updates on my condition every second of every day.

"We told them all that you were sick with food poisoning.  We didn't know what else to say." Luna confessed.

"Do you mind telling us what really happened that made you fall into such a state?" Exie probed.
