"That was Takaki?"

Shunsuke placed his phone in his pocket again after the other end hung up. They were inside the study room when he received a call from his best friend. "Yes. He was almost attacked earlier, not long after he left the villa."

"You look more confused than worried, what is it?"

"Hm. He said Raiah saved him and killed the people who were sent after him."

"Raiah? Why would he do that?"

"I have no idea." He shrugged his shoulders and added, "But Takaki seemed to be in high spirits with what happened."

Aki just lightly nodded but didn't say anything anymore. His thoughts were whirling around different possibilities.

Raiah was sent to take him back to the former's clan. Being a highly trained assassin with special skills, Raiah was obviously adamant about complying with the rules and values of their clan, which included not straying from the given mission.

So, was saving Takaki part of his mission? If not, what was Raiah's intention?

If he schemed of using Takaki to destroy his set path with Shunsuke and eventually force Aki to leave, could that even be considered as a possibility?

No.

Maybe, yes.

He was actually not confident about this, simply because he knew so well how strong the two's friendship was. Could Shunsuke's infatuation for him withstand it if Takaki fought against him for Raiah?

Aki glanced at Shunsuke who was silently starting to do his homework. "No, I can't let that happen. They must not go against each other."

But what if it happened?

Just then, a decision came to his mind.

He came to this place only to survive, to get by without being hunted. These two boys might not have suffered to the same degree as he did, but still, they suffered more than enough. Even the prestige and business they held this early shouldn't be carried by their young shoulders yet they were already doing it. If his existence brought upon heavier weights and trials on these two, he must remove himself from the picture.

It was no longer a question if he should fight for his happiness or his place by Shunsuke's side. People like him had no right to be greedy.

He was able to move on from losing so many people to their deaths, then he would definitely be able to move on as well even if he got heartbroken.

While being immersed with his own thoughts, Aki didn't notice that the boy in front of him was staring at him for quite a while now.

"Aki, what's wrong?"

The latter jolted as his attention was suddenly grabbed back. "Huh?"

"What's troubling you?"

"Nothing."

Frustrated by the other's answer, Shunsuke sighed. "I know I'm weaker than you but I hope you'll still depend on me. I'll do anything to help you, Aki."

"I'm hungry. " Aki stood and turned to ask the latter. "Is there anything you want to eat?"

"I'm not hungry."

"Okay."

He walked towards the door without looking back at the sulking person he left behind. He knew he was acting like a jerk, but what was he supposed to say? How was he supposed to say it without making Shun worry more than he did? All of this complications sprung out of him, his presence, his abilities... Problem after problem after problem...
