Tsubasa stared at the boy sitting in front of him, silently eating. They had been introduced before starting dinner a while ago and aside from the brief introductions, he heard nothing more.

If the boy didn't look real and truly human, Tsubasa might even think that his son brought home a male doll, almost perfect in features but completely void of expressions.

"Have you already decided on what major to take in college, Aki?" The old man decided to call the other as how his son called the latter. Besides, he felt like the name was quite long to enunciate.

"Not yet, Saito-san. It doesn't matter to me that much, I just need a degree." In contrary to the one who raised the question, Aki wanted to draw a clear line between him and other people. There was no need to call Shun's father by first name.

Tsubasa dismissed the subtle rejection of getting familiar with each other. A seasoned adult like him didn't need to fret on such a petty thing but he took note of the hidden message that the boy was giving.

The conversation over dinner went from college majors to hobbies to future plans to favorites but none brought up anything about his family. Aki realized that the old man was quite tactful and considerate in talking to him and he appreciated it. Telling lies was one of the things he hated the most so naturally, to be forced to tell a lie would be so distressing for him.

"I'll leave for a business trip this afternoon, Europe." Before leaving the table, Tsubasa turned to his son. "This may take long, two months, at least."

Shunsuke nodded. He was already used to this. What his father wanted to ask him was to take over the management of things here while the former handled businesses in different countries in Europe.

"There are proposals for commercial buildings in Pudong. I'll leave them to you. Our business partners from Shanghai will arrive to discuss them."

"Do you have any specific instructions for them, dad?"

"No. Decide as you see fit." In countless times, Shunsuke had surprised him with his smart handling of things despite his age. There were even times that his son could come up with more strategic and practical ways than he could especially when his mind was muddled with over vigilance and partiality towards people.

Aki listened as the two talked a little bit more about business. He found out the extent of Shunsuke's involvement and somehow, he was impressed. Unlike a full-pledged adult like him, the other was just a teenager still studying in high school but when it came to business, his ideas and opinions had a depth that were so mature, logical and clever. It was hard to believe that they came from such a boy if a person just listened to his words.

Satisfied with the short discussion, Tsubasa already left them to go to their company's main office.

"We'll leave after an hour." Shunsuke looked at him.

"Where to?"

"We'll get your things from your apartment and let the landlord know that you won't be renting anymore. You also need to talk to your employers about your resignation."

"I can do that on my own. You don't need to tag along."

"I'm not tagging along. You are my bodyguard. It's not good for a bodyguard to separate from his master, isn't it?"

"Mm." Aki didn't have a retort to that. It was quite logical.

"We'll go shopping after." Shunsuke waited for the other's answer but to his dismay, he was given another bout of silence instead.

It wasn't that Aki didn't have anything to say. It was just that he knew that the things he wore and the things he had were not suitable for someone who would always stick close to a person with the other's status. He didn't want to look like a rag beside a huge block of gold. If it was just him, he didn't mind at all, but he needed to consider Shunsuke's image as his master as well. To look good and presentable was also part of his job.
