Early morning, both of them prepared to go to school. They ate breakfast in awkward silence and sat in a black Lamborghini Urus.
"What time do you want to be picked up after school, young master?" The driver looked back to ask Shunsuke.
"Do you have anything to do after your last class?" He turned to ask Aki.
"No." He answered not looking at the other. He busied himself with whatever it was outside the window.
"5:30 is okay." He grinned while answering the driver's question.
The other's awkwardness made him feel good. Aki's reaction last night and his inability to shrug it off only confirmed the latter's purity and innocence in that field. Not that Shunsuke had a virgin complex, he didn't mind if Aki wasn't at all. But it still gave him a sense of superiority and pride.
Before they alighted from the car, Aki saw Shunsuke dropped something in his bag. He reached inside to find out what it was and gave it back to the latter void of any expression. Not surprise, and more so, not gratitude.
"I don't need this."
"How can I contact you if I need you?"
"I'll know."
Shunsuke wanted to ask how but then again, Aki was completely mysterious for him. He knew almost nothing about the latter.
"It's part of your job to be always reachable." He insisted. How can a teenager not have a good mobile phone nowadays, outrageous!
"I don't need it." He repeated. Living life with all modesty and simplicity was the most satisfying for him. The latest model of the most expensive brand of mobile phones only made him feel uncomfortable.
"Well, just take it or throw it away if you---" He stopped talking halfway as he felt the temperature inside the car dropped to zero with the cold, apathetic stare of Aki. He shivered as he felt as though all of his brain cells froze. "Ah, phones are really troublesome!" He quickly put the box inside his bag. "Who needs these useless things, anyway?"
Shunsuke scratched the back of his head and secretly stole a glance at Aki's direction. He sighed in relief as he saw the other looking out of the car's window again as if nothing happened, "Shit, he's scary!"
Whenever Aki entered the school gates before, he was always ignored. Good aptitude was almost nothing in a sea of wealthy people. There might have been glances of admiration or despise but none was noteworthy enough.
Not until today....
A number of students parted their ways as they saw the two boys entered the huge gate. All of them stared at Aki like he was the most special piece of artifact in a museum or the most luxurious item on display. None dared to let out a sound but the looks of reverence was too much for Aki to handle.
"Just pretend that you don't see anyone."
It was the second time he heard the other sigh a very heavy one since they arrived. When he looked back, Aki was already walking towards another direction. Since their classrooms were located in different buildings, he no longer followed.
"Hey." Takaki hurried to walk beside Shunsuke.
The other just shortly glanced at him, "Don't ask."
"Everybody's on edge about him. The news was blocked in all media but we can't stop the information from spreading in the whole school."
"We have to do something about that." He drew a deep breath. "For now, let's avoid all situations that can draw more attention to him. We can just tell those who ask that he's my bodyguard."
