The whole day, Aki, Shunsuke and even Takaki waited for Raiah to make a move but the classes ended that everything was all clear and normal. They saw him in the cafeteria during lunch break again but the latter only acted like they never crossed paths before.

That night, Shunsuke invited Takaki to sleepover. This was nothing new to both of them since they practically grew up almost tied with each other. The latter even had his own room in the Saito's mansion already.

"Dude, are you okay? What's with that dying look?" Takaki waved his hand on his own face while trying to imitate, but with an exaggeration, the gloomy and troubled look of his best friend.

He had been looking for the latter since a while ago and just found him sitting in front of a TV in the entertainment room. Yet obviously, Shunsuke was not taking in anything from what he was watching.

"Tch. You look like an idiot, stop that." He didn't know if he should laugh or get annoyed with the kind of face the other was making.

"Like an idiot? No longer an actual idiot?" Takaki chuckled as he sat beside the latter. "What's wrong?"

Shunsuke leaned back and closed his eyes for a while before opening them again. He stared at the latter with such caution like he was threading through thin glass.

"Aki."

"Of course." He nonchalantly shrugged. Who else could make his confident, all capable friend suddenly looked so lost and helpless? "What's wrong, dude?"

The seriousness in Shunsuke's eyes made the latter hold his breath. It was the look of desperation and sorrow that even him who knew everything about the former still couldn't figure out how to deal with it.

"Just say it."

"He's a... Aki is a Yanagi."

The last word dropped and rang inside Takaki's head.

At that moment, he felt all the veins in his body erupted with rage. He clenched his fists so tight and his teeth gritted in madness. Without saying anything, he stood up but his wrist was immediately grabbed by the boy sitting beside him.

"Takaki."

"Why are you stopping me?" The question came out so flat, so rigid...

Shunsuke heard the control that was hanging by a thread enunciated so clearly between those words. He looked up only to see that all that was left in his friend was a mere consciousness of their friendship, everything else was of rage and revenge.

"Taka, please let me handle this."

"Can you kill him?" He didn't look back, his eyes were fixed on the closed door seemingly looking through it. When there was no answer from the other, he continued. "I'll do it for both of us. You can kill me after if you want."

The other sighed and stood up. "He wasn't the one who did it. Either to yours or to mine, it wasn't him."

Takaki snappily turned to look at him, his eyes were almost bloodshot with anger. "No? Not him? Do you even have any idea how old he truly is? What his abilities are? Why exactly is he here? Of all places in this country, why here, Shun? Of all schools, why with us?? " He wasn't shouting but his voice carried tons of grief, spite and urgency that it felt a lot worse than a shout.

"I can't answer those questions now but I know it's not him. I just know, Taka."

"You just know." He nodded in mockery. "No, you don't know. You hope, Shun. You hope because you like that murderer. How much are you willing to lose for that hope? Who else are you willing to lose? Because unlike you, they left me with no one."
