Raiah turned around to face Aki's direction and with this, Takaki's brain could no longer deny nor doubt what just happened a while ago.

"He... he saved me..." He stared at the two huge, celestially white wings attached to Raiah's back. "What is he?" He heard two people running towards him and caught sight of Aki running beside Shunsuke. He looked at Aki and remembered how fast the latter was able to grab Shunsuke a while ago. He thought again, "What are they?"

"Are you okay?" Shunsuke immediately held Takaki's arm and slightly shook him.

"What are they? They're the same, right?" Without sparing his best friend a glance, he stared at Raiah.

"I don't think so, but I'm not sure. At least, Aki doesn't have wings."

Aki approached Raiah but kept a certain distance. "Let's talk next time. Now's not good."

The latter didn't answer but slowly waved his hand all over the place. Each direction where his hand fanned over immediately went back to its normal state. The whole place was fixed and put back to order like their fight never occurred at all.

When it was done, he faced Aki again, "My mission is to take you. Next time, I can't guarantee that no one else will get harmed."

The wings on his back dispersed into fragments of light. They looked like bright mixture of silver and diamonds in the air before completely disappearing.

"What do you mean by 'take him'??" Shunsuke stepped forward and glared at Raiah with clenched fists.

Aki immediately went in front of the other. "Don't Shun. He can kill you without raising his hand."

"What did he mean by that, Aki? Where are you going with him?" He was obviously anxious and disconcerted with what he heard.

"We'll talk about this later. For now, let's stop here."

"But I want to---"

"Shun." His eyes held a cold and serious warning. "He's strong. I can fight him and protect you. But, I won't be able to protect your friend."

Raiah swept an indifferent look towards both of them then turned to look at Takaki whose eyes were glued on him.

The expression on the latter's face was inconceivable. "If you intend to kill my friends, there's no need to save me next time."

"I'll remember that." Raiah flatly answered Takaki before walking away from the three boys.

As he was getting further, his mind wandered.

That moment when Takaki was about to be crushed by the falling post, the image of the crying little boy on a grave late at night, the one that he saw in Takaki's memories, darted back into his mind. In that split of a second moment, his body acted even before he was able to think.

The only thing clear to him was the feeling of not wanting that little boy to get hurt again.

Before he knew it, he was already covering Takaki with his own wings which he never did before. Not even to protect his own kind, not even to protect his own family. And, he had lived more than a hundred years already.

Yet, that was the first time he felt the strong urge to protect someone.

"Next time, I should eliminate him if he becomes a hindrance again."

Shunsuke followed Aki directly to the latter's room when they reached home. He couldn't wait any longer for the answers he was craving.

"Aki..." He called as he closed the bedroom's door behind him. "Can I have the answers now?"
