Anvi

He opened the door and I entered after. I have left India, for a new country. I have left my old identity there as well. I am no longer Anvi Choudhary. That title is long gone. "Here you will stay, this apartment belongs to you. I live on the top floor, so if you need you can come to me anytime you like." I smile.

"That is not true Mr. Bajaj. If it was true, then you wouldn't be kept down here when you live up there five floors up. Your house doors are not accessible to me anytime, like early of the morning, or middle of the night." He didn't say anything.

"It is only 9 to 5 but" I turned around to face him. "You can come in anytime you like, you are always welcome." He looked like he was in deep thought. I know what he was thinking about. It is his girlfriend Tanvi. "Why don't you gift her something from the latest collection, give her a bunch of roses, and in between put the box. She will love it. And she will forgive you. After all, it was an accident isn't it, sir?"

"I would pick you up at eight, sharp, it is your first day, I expect you to be presentable. Mother had already prepared the apartment accordingly. You have my surname now. Do not take it lightly." His tone wasn't friendly.

"I know, I am not going to make a fool out of you. But, wouldn't it be better if you don't tell anyone about this?" He shook his head not moving an inch from his place. "They know, it was in news. They know you are my wife and that is where it gets really hard Anvi."

I kind of miss Neev, he calls me Sehezaadi. And I miss that nickname. "My girlfriend is really possessive of me. She doesn't like it if I even look at anyone else other than her. Sometimes it feels so overbearing like it is choking me, but I know that is how she is." Why is he telling me all this?

"I do not expect you to know how that feels. Since you never been in love, you never have felt jealousy" I turned around pushing my bags on my way in. "No, I haven't Mr. Bajaj. But I know what it is like."

He was closer now. His breath was tickling me now. "How do you know that?" he asked. "Because Sir, your brother acts the same way if he sees anyone be this close to me." I turned around and he caged me again.

"Is that so? I wonder why Anvi, that my brother cared so much about you yet, he didn't protest seeing me sign those papers. If it is true as you say, he shouldn't have let me marry you. Even if it is for one year. He wouldn't have."

"Please move, if you remembered correctly, I asked you not to come within ten feet of me." He touched my cheek fleetingly. "Yes, that you did after you slapped me. But then there was Neev to protect you from me. Who will do that now Sehezaadi?" I pulled his hand away from me.

"Don't touch me," I told him again. "And why not? Aren't we husband and wife? If you wanted it so much why are you denying the best part about it?" He asked. "You are drunk"

I felt his hand snaked onto my waist touching my skin there. I hissed because he held me there where I was hurt. "Let me go." I struggled against his hold. "Relax, even if I am comatose, I cannot see anyone else but Tanvi, she is beautiful, gorgeous, one of a kind. You are not even able enough to be in her shadow." I pushed him hard and slapped him again. He held his face.

"You slapped me again?" He asked. "Yes, you are not in your senses, you are trying to make me feel bad about myself. I know you love her, and this setback only delays the eventual Sir. But this doesn't mean that you can compare me to your lover without knowing about me. I know what I am, and I will not change it for superficial beauty that only on the outside. But maybe that what you are aiming for. I think you should leave and let me unpack."

He glared at me and walked out. I closed the door and fell on the floor tears flowing freely from my eyes. I do not want to see him again. But I don't have any solution but to do so. I have to be here for the next year being dependent on him. What have I done to deserve this?
