Ronit

She looked at me in shock but then she recovered very quickly. "But Ronit, I cannot possibly accept it. It is so much..." "Expensive, high maintenance?" She nodded. See I understand her unsaid words. I am learning. And I am learning very well. But would it be of any help in the future? If she leaves then maybe I would never find someone whom I can understand ever.

"It all had been taken care of, my company will pay for the maintenance this place will need and it is insured," I told her. "Oh, but still, I cannot take it knowing..." "knowing what?" I asked. "I think you should remember it is six and half months passed and..." I pulled her in front of me and placed my lips on hers. She pushed me away.

"What are you doing?" She asked surprised. "Amending, amending what I have done to you. Amending my own mistakes. Amending this marriage so, it will not remain an accident." She looked like she had seen a ghost. "What are you talking about?" She asked. I pulled her closer to me. But not attempt to close the distance. "My mother-in-law called me today. And, she didn't just call she chatted with me face to face on my personal phone number."

She moved away. "Are you accusing me?" She asked. I chuckled. "Now, why would I do that Mrs. Bajaj? Why would I accuse you of giving my number to your own mother? She probably just got it from someplace else, or even if she had gotten that from you, you surely couldn't have known that she was going to ask me to come to India and get the mutual divorce." "She did what?" She exclaimed. "Begged me that I should leave you alone. I should get out of your life." I elaborated as peacefully as I could.

"She is right, we shall get the divorce if it is possible then..." I shook my head. "No, I am not giving you divorce. Not a chance." I am not letting you go away Anvi. Not this soon. I deserve that time from you. That little time we have left. "Why? It will be good; it would be like I never existed in this life. In your life. You could finally reconcile with your girlfriend."

"I don't want to reconcile with my girlfriend. Why don't you understand that little fact?" I asked her. "But if I never came in your life, it would have run its course and you would have been married to Tanvi," I held her shoulder. "Yes Anvi, yes, but you came into my life. You showed me what it is like to have a real relationship. I want that, is it really wrong to want more?" I asked her.

"No, but don't you love her? You told her you to love her in front of me. You spend night after night away from home, away from me, Ronit. Because you loved her, and now you don't?" She asked. "If someday then you will find someone better then you will leave because you will again want more from it more from our relationship" I looked into her eyes. "You think so? You really think so?" She looked away.

"I know so Mr. Bajaj." I pulled myself away from her. "Then you really don't know your power over me or think yourself unable to bind me to you. I don't need to have you physically next to me. I don't need to have the physical thing. No, I don't. What I need is able to sleep next to you. And sleep finally holding you. Not toss and turn on my bed all night unable to sleep at all."

"What are you talking about?" She asked. I smiled at her. "I wish you could understand, having more doesn't mean getting you in my bed. But seeing you next to me every day. When I come home and see you waiting for me, it is a blessing. I forget my tiredness; with that one look, you give me every day I walk through that door. And you walk towards me, ask me whether I like to have some coffee. And what I really want is a hug. But since we never had that relationship all I can do is say yes. Because I know you would reject my touch." I moved back more.

"I wish you understood that there is no one who can understand my unsaid words as you do. No one cares as you do." I moved back more. "I wish you understood, how alone this all can be, how from a very young age everyone found a shoulder to lean on in me. But I never could do that. Not even my girlfriend ever let me just rest on her shoulder for a while. She was never there when I needed it." I sat down on the beach.
