Like The Storm

A storm was coming. Standing atop a large cliffside at it's edge, you watched the brewing of dark clouds form before you, mixing and muddling together to create what was sure to be a terrifyingly beautiful force of nature. The winds whipped past your face, indicating that it was headed your way and headed there fast. Your hair fluttering in the wind, you inhaled the familiar scent of rain to come and smiled, eager to see how this storm would play out. You always loved the strength of nature, and the rapidly approaching black cloud only made you more excited to experience this phenomenon. As you stood and watched though, you suddenly felt a presence approaching you from behind. Normally you would be cautious, but the presence you felt was an all too familiar one to you, and instead you relaxed, smiling softly.

"Good evening, Kite." You greeted, keeping your eyes on the clouds. "Fancy meeting you here~"

You heard him chuckle a little as he finally stepped up to your side, his long hair trailing behind him as the winds kicked up a little more. He stood mere inches away from you; a lot closer that usual in fact. The closeness made you your heart race, but that was standard when you were in his presence, unable to stop your heart from exciting itself at the sight of him. So, you simply enjoyed the closeness, and finally tore your eyes from the sky to look up at him.

"It looks like this will be quite the storm." Kite commented, admiring the darkening sky.

"It will be indeed." You agreed. "By the looks of things and the speed of the wind, it should be here in about ten minutes. I can feel it."

Kite looked down at you, surprised by your prediction being so casual. "Ten? That fast hey? I know you've never been wrong with your weather predictions, so if it's truly ten minutes, there's no way you'll make it back to your place without getting absolutely soaked. You live pretty far from here." He commented.

"Aw, don't want me to get caught in the storm?" You asked with a cheeky grin. "You're right, but if I used my full potential, I could be home in minutes."

He let out a sigh and smiled down at you, turning his whole body to face you. "True, but why waste all your energy like that? You can wait out the storm at my place and spend your energy enjoying it instead, because you're right: I don't want you to get caught up in it."

"Hmm, well if you're offering, how can I say no to you! I am no stranger to your home anyway." You agreed, nodding happily.

"Perfect. Let's go then, shall we?"

You both turned from the cliffside to walk back to his home, Kite giving you the gentlest of nudges with his hand as you went. The contact made you blush a little, and you felt a tingle run down your spine as you followed beside him. He was unusually closer to you today overall, and when you looked up at him in wonder, he looked as if there was something he desperately wanted to say to you but couldn't. Not wanting to pester him on it though, you simply let a smile rest on your features and continued on, enjoying the comfort you felt being around him.

After a few minutes you finally reached his home, and by now the wind was really whipping. Mere moments after you set foot through his front door you could hear a wall of rain approaching, and when you turned to look, the ground had already become drenched with the slap of fresh rain.

"Oh wow. That came a lot faster than I expected. I can't believe I was off." You commented, blinking in amazement as the door shut.

"I guess I was right in bringing you here then." He huffed, you nodding in agreement. "Well, make yourself comfy then. I'll put on some tea.

"Thank you as always~" You said, taking your shoes off and stepping inside.

The moment your presence entered the main living space of his home, a few animals came running up to you, excited to see you because they recognized you almost instantly. You greeted them with love, always happy to give your affection to the friendly creatures Kite took such good care of. You had been here so many times that you swore they preferred you over him, baby talking them and giving them lots of pets. When you glanced up from the sea of fur over at Kite in the kitchen, you swore he was grinning with the softest look ever on his face. He turned away quite quickly though, so you scoffed quietly, enlightened by the thought of him smiling because of you.
