That familiar feeling tingled down your spine again. Rain clouds were approaching. The feeling told you that it wasn't going to be a vicious storm of thunder and lightning, but rather a gentle shower that could be enjoyed outside if you so chose to. It wasn't often you got to experience rain without whipping winds, so you paced around the campsite you and Kite were set up at, eagerly awaiting the drizzle from the sky. Yes you were supposed to be documenting plant species for him, but you couldn't help yourself when it came to the thought of rainfall. As cliche as it was, you were a sucker for frolicking in the rain, and you'd drop anything just to enjoy a moment of it.

"You can sense rainfall coming soon, right?" Kite commented, looking up from his laptop. He noticed your sudden giddy state like it was second nature by now.

You stopped your pacing and faced him with a guilty little smile. "I can, yes."

"How long?"

"Mmm, I'd say half an hour unless the wind picks up. Nothing serious. Just a gentle shower." You informed him.

"I thought as much. Rain always excites you." Kite chuckled. "You're free to roam when it comes. Just help me with this last report and don't worry about anything else. Working in the rain isn't ideal anyway."

You nodded with a wide smile, happy that he was always so forgiving with you when you were out in the field together. It was to be expected with him as your lover, but you liked to be reliable and do your best work for him. Just because you were together shouldn't mean you can get away with less work, but you were grateful for when he cut you some slack. You always made up for it in the end anyway, so you rushed over to assist him with his current report while you waited for the rain to fall.

As you hung over his shoulder you gave him all your data to fill in the blanks of his report, occasionally stealing away his laptop because you were a faster typer than he was. Working with him was truly a dream. Things always went smoothly and you had fun while doing it; like right now, Kite trying to take back his laptop while you blocked him teasingly with your shoulder, only surrendering it to him after he resorted to pinching your waist. With his report now done and you still giggling, both of you started to store away anything that could be ruined by the rain while you waited, soon settling by the fire once you were done to wait out the time until the rain fell.

Looking up, the blue skies were soon gone as dark grey clouds took their place in the atmosphere. It had been about twenty five minutes, so it made perfect sense to see the sky in such a state. You looked over at Kite with eagerness in your eyes and he smiled, your youthful joy always brightening his mood.

"You can go whenever. Don't wait for me." He chuckled.

"I promise I'll do double the work tomorrow! It's just so pretty here I can't help myself." You rambled on, quickly dragging him into a brief kiss before you ran off into the thick of the forest.

He watched you leave with a smile before he turned his attention back to the sky. There were still a couple things left to cover that he didn't tell you about, so he went ahead and started to bring those things inside the tent while you ran off.

Already quite deep into the forest, you could hear the sound of gentle rainfall finally picking up around you, overjoyed by the sound. Soon everything around you was drenched in a thin layer of rain, yourself included. It was soft; no wind to disturb it as your clothes became soaking wet. Nothing but pure joy emanated from you as you ran through the foliage, jumping from rock to rock over bushes and under branches, enjoying all that nature gave to you. That was the benefit of accompanying Kite on longer trips like this: unlimited access to the beauty of the word.
