Mornings Like These

Waking in his bed was a far more luxurious experience than waking in your own. Gradually, you had begun to spend nights over with Kite at his home, having gone from a couple days a week over to nearly never setting foot though your own door. The comfort and bliss you felt when you were with him was like a drug, and it was mornings like these that made it all worthwhile.

You didn't intend to wake so early, but the curtains had been left open by mistake last night, allowing the morning sun to come spilling into his bedroom. The light had woken you up, and through blurry vision you turned to check the clock on the nightstand.

"Six in the morning." You groaned softly, disappointed that your slumber had been disturbed.

Turning away from the clock, you flipped over to look next to you where a warm body rested, blissfully ignorant of the morning rays beating down on him. He was faced towards you and away from the window, the shadows saving him from being woken up. Now that your vision had cleared, you let out a small sigh and couldn't help but watch him rest through tired eyes, delighted to see Kite so at ease with the world.

The sun's rays fell across his body only half covered in sheets, illuminating him with a halo of soft morning light. Even his hair shone under the light, glistening like silk from being freshly washed the night before. Though he lay on his stomach with his arms tucked under his pillow, you could see his upper body gently rise and fall with each soft breath he took, disturbing tiny dust particles and making them glint under the sun as they passed. He really was such a beautiful man, and you couldn't stop your smile as you admired his sleeping form beside you. Reaching out, you gently traced your hand over the muscles of his back, finding him far too irresistible not to caress, leaving goosebumps in wake of your fingers. Your gentle touch had caused him to stir, a little shiver passing through his body before he let out a soft groan and his eyes fluttered open. He was still incredibly tired, but he watched you through half lidded eyes as a small smile made its way onto his features.

"What are you doing up so early, love?" He asked you in his low morning voice, still saturated with fatigue.

"Mmm, enjoying you and your beauty. You look so handsome in the morning light, so I can't help but to indulge." You responded, tracing your fingers down his bicep.

He chuckled as he propped himself up on one arm, reaching over and cupping your cheek with his free hand. "I can say the same about you. But then again, you always look stunning." He hummed.

"Oh stop, you're gonna make me blush~" You giggled, leaning into his hand.

"Then you'll be stunning and adorable. Why would I stop such a lovely sight from occurring, hmm?" He purred, leaning in closer to you.

Closing the distance between you, Kite kissed you with such love and tenderness that you could have melted right there on the spot. He always gave you butterflies with his kisses, his thumb gently brushing over your cheek as you inched closer to his body and hummed. That fluttery feeling in your chest never ceased; not that you wanted it to anyway. Your hand changed its course to trace over his chest, following the faint lines of definition down to his waist where you wrapped your arms around him and pulled until there was nothing left between you but atoms, gently pushing him over onto his back and lying on top of him.

When you finally broke away from each other, you were wearing silly little grins, his hair fanned out wildly beneath him as it shimmered in the sun.

"It's mornings like these that make life worth living. Honestly, what would I do without you?" He sighed, sliding his hands down to your hips.

"That's my line, you sap." You laughed, resting your head on his chest.

"Sorry~" He hummed. "So, shall we get up and make some coffee, or perhaps sleep in a little more?"

Both of you glanced over at the clock once more, seeing that very little time had passed since you awoke. You groaned once you made your decision, planting your face back on his chest with a tight grip on his body.

"Sleep more. I didn't mean to get up when I did." You mumbled.

"I'm alright with that. A few more hours, and then we'll get up." He agreed, tugging the blankets back up over both of you.

You hummed out a soft tone as warmth encased you once more, feeling groggy all over again. The sunlight pouring in no longer disturbed you, as you were too content in his embrace to care. Your breathing slowed, and he squeezed your hips lovingly as both of you returned to slumber within minutes, basking in the morning sun.

He was right. Life was worth living when you had mornings like these to look forward to.
