Hold Me Close

"It's no use." You muttered.

You had been tossing and turning all night, unable to find the ability to sleep. The sweetness of slumber evaded you expertly tonight, feeling both hot and cold as you tossed your blanket on and off your body multiple times. With one great exasperated sigh, you finally gave up, starfishing on your mattress as you stared up at the ceiling with a disgruntled expression. Comfort was nowhere to be found, and now your mind had begun to wander with intrusive thoughts that brought your mood down beneath the dirt, all of said thoughts being about your self worth as your inner demons pulled you down with them. You glanced over at your clock and saw that it was well past three in the morning, and you groaned, desperate to find peace in sleep.

"Maybe if I took a walk..." You sighed to yourself. "There's no point in fighting to find sleep that won't come at this hour."

Swinging your legs off the side of your bed, you decided to take yourself up on that late night walk in hopes that it would at least rid your mind of the plaguing negative thoughts it had running on a loop. The incessant nagging of your head voice telling you that you weren't worthy of anyone's love had really begun to piss you off, so you defiantly slid on a pair of sneakers from your door mat and departed into the crisp night air, hoping it would clear your mind and hopefully exhaust your body enough to allow you to rest.

Once you stepped out your front door the chilly night air nipped at your skin, making you shiver a little. You didn't mind it too much though, and inhaled deeply as you gazed up at the moon, puffing out that large breath with a refreshed sense of relief. Something about the sky at night in less populated areas really lulled you into a dreamlike state, easing your soul. At least you had that going for you, so you shoved your hands in the pockets of your lounge pants and carried on with an aimless wander, leaving your property behind as you ambled towards the nearby small village with your autopilot switched on. You followed the main road through the village without a thought for where you'd end up, ten, twenty, and now thirty minutes passing you by as you mindlessly walked on. When you finally decided to retake control of your mental state and come off of autopilot though, you found yourself on the complete opposite side of town now, halfway up the side of the hill that led towards Kite's secluded home.

"Kite... I wonder if he's awake right now." You pondered, looking up to barely see the peak of his roof over the top of the hill.

You remembered how he told you that you could always come to him to talk about anything that was bothering you. Perhaps that was what you needed right now; an outlet for your racing mind to empty it out. Starting to ascend the slightly steep path again, you decided to take a shot in the dark and see if he was awake, praying silently that he would be. As you pressed on upwards, his home finally came into view as the ground flattened out, and the first thing you noticed was the dim glow of a light being on where the kitchen window was. A sigh of relief left your lips, thankful that he was also awake at such an ungodly hour.

Jogging up to his front door, you knocked gently on the stained wood as to not startle him, hearing sounds of curious shuffling coming from beyond it until the handle rattled and the door swung open, revealing to you the thankfully awake love of your life. He had a slightly shocked expression when he saw it was you on his doorstep, not expecting you to be there so late. He wore only a loose pair of black sweats that desperately clung to his hips, his hair ever so slightly frizzed as well. It was admittedly a lovely sight to see for you, and you couldn't help but blush a little as you unapologetically looked him up and down.

"_______, what brings you here at such an hour?" He asked, leaning on his door frame.

"I... couldn't sleep." You admitted with a sheepish grin, looking up at him innocently.
