"On the right, we have Dream!" Dream heard MrBeast call through the announcement system. "And on the left we have Technoblade!" The introductions were shortened this time but the crowd cheered just as hard. Dream walked forward, this time they only got to choose two weapons so Dream took a shield and ax again. He saw that Technoblade was holding two diamond blades like last time and let out an anxious sigh. Techno halted a few paces away from Dream and spun his swords around in his grasp.
Dream had time to think about his choice the other day and realized how big of a mistake he'd made. He remembered Technoblade destroying him in every single battle they'd had and sighed again. He hadn't bothered to get a new mask, he didn't think it really mattered that much, and his new armor wasn't painted with anything.
Can I change my mind? Dream knew the answer was no. Techno wouldn't give him another chance, not now. I might as well just stand still. Dream thought sadly. He's going to beat me anyway. Dream was known for dragon killing, not people killing. He knew everything dragons did, including how they fought. People were unpredictable.
"I just wanted to be free," Technoblade said. "And I'm not ashamed to say I'd leave you here for that chance at finally being able to live a normal life,"
"How can you still say that!" Dream snarled, his fear quickly being replaced by anger.
"It's the truth," Techno spat. "Might as well tell you the truth,"
"Let the fight begin!" Dream didn't hesitate to swing his ax at Technoblade, but just like last time Techno crossed his swords forming an 'X' in front of him and deflected it easily. He spun around and landed two heavy blows on Dream's side, knocking him aside. Dream spun around and held up his shield just long enough to shove Techno away and then lashed out, catching Techno on the shoulder and sending him staggering sideways.
"You're so selfish!" Dream snarled, glaring at Technoblade.
"Your words are fueled by anger," Techno growled. "They mean nothing,"
"You're selfish," Dream spat. "Might as well tell you the truth," Techno narrowed his eyes and swung both his diamond blades at Dream, landing one blow on his leg and the other on his shield. He dug the blade deepening into the shield until there was a crack and the wood split along the middle. Technoblade met his gaze, his blue eyes like the fire that bloomed in the nether, and landed a hard blow on Dream's temple. Dream saw stars for a split second and staggered to the side, dropping his shield onto the dusty earth.
"You know what, I am selfish," Techno growled, smacking Dream on the back with the flat end of his sword. Dream spun around and deflected another blow but was forced backward as Techno continued to swing at him. "I'm selfish for wanting a normal life, aren't I?" He hissed, his face only inches from Dream's as Dream tried to hold back Techno's duel swords. He grunted and threw Dream backward, back into the dust in almost the same position as the day before. He aimed one blade at Dream's throat, no hint of mercy in his eyes. "Any last words?" Dream said nothing and let go of his ax, knowing it was pointless to fight anymore. Techno saw this and sighed, shaking his head. "You can't beat me," He growled. "If you fought me a hundred times, I'd win ninety-eight of them,"
"I know," Dream muttered, staring up at Techno. This time he wasn't afraid of the possible death, no, the probable death. Techno stared at him for a moment. Before lowering his sword again and holding out his hand.
"Then give up," He said. "Give up and we can try and take these guys on," Dream stared at Techno's outstretched hand, feeling confused.
"What is going on here?" MrBeast called. Techno didn't acknowledge him and continued to hold his hand out.
"Get up," Technoblade demanded. After a moment Dream reached up and accepted Techno's hand. He was yanked to his feet at once and Dream was pleased to hear some faint cheering. At least some people are normal. He thought, smiling slightly.
"If that's what you want," MrBeast sighed. Dream saw two iron doors open up to reveal three guards behind each. They all held diamond swords or axes and they all had shields. "New challenge! Last to get captured wins their freedom!" Dream stiffened. I thought- I thought it was last to die gets to be champion! Dream thought, his mouth falling open slightly.
He glanced at Techno and saw that the other man's expression had changed completely. He now had a serious expression plastered on his face and he turned toward Dream slowly as the six guards closed in on them. He's going to betray me. Dream thought. He said he'd turn me in for freedom... of course he's going to give me up to them. Dream didn't even have his ax anymore, it was still on the ground. He quickly stepped away from Techno and picked it up, staring at the other man warily.
"Techno..." Dream muttered. Techno was staring at him, his expression unreadable, but Dream could see his hands twisting his diamond blades slightly. Techno looked back at the guards who were now running toward them and then back at Dream. When the first guard approached them Techno swung at him and knocked him into another, sending them both to the ground. Dream kept one eye on Technoblade as he turned to deflect a diamond ax as it swung toward him, not entirely trusting he was off the hook yet. He managed to beat the first one, then the second with only a few bad wounds.
He winced, he'd been in too many fights too recently and his joints were starting to ache. Come on, I just gotta beat a few more guys... Dream thought, swinging at a third guard. Techno had already defeated three of the guards before he kicked the one Dream was fighting in the chest and sending him to the ground with a thud. There was no doubt he'd broken some bones in the impact. Techno nodded to Dream and looked at the two garages. Dream noticed more people walking toward them from the iron garages and Techno sighed.
"Run to the third door, take a right, run straight three doors, and then a left and a right," He ordered.
"What?" Dream said.
"The third garage," Techno said. "Right left right, I'll catch up," Techno repeated. Dream stared at him a moment before Techno shoved him away. Dream stumbled a bit before taking off toward the doors, he saw the guards closing in around Technoblade and he started fighting. He skidded to a halt, debating whether or not to turn back and help. As things started to go a little less in Technoblade's favor, he turned and ran a few paces away. He looked like he was about to lash out when multiple people grabbed him and started tugging him down.
I changed this because I don't need more death. In the original version Technoblade stabbed himself, but you know what? That kinda sucked so... here we are :)
