Maddie glared at him. "Did you just say "no"?"

He nodded. "I believe I did."

She scoffed. "What the hell is wrong with you? Let's go."

He ripped his hand out of her grip. "Don't fucking touch me."

"Ugh!" She groaned. "You're kidding me!"

"Just go away." I growled. "He's over you."

She shoved me. "Back off, bitch."

Benny grunted. "Leave her alone, Maddie."

She then shoved him to the ground and he fell right next to Sparky. He groaned softly as Sparky whined.

"I'm okay, boy." He reassured while scratching his ears.

I chuckled. "Let's go, bitch. Let's fight."

I put my fists up, clenching them tightly. She looked down at Benny.

"I...I'm not gonna fight you." She whimpered.

I smirked. "Come on. Use your muscles."

Her head shook. "No, I'm not gonna."

"Come on, pussy! Suck it up!" I shouted.

Her eyes widened. "Leave me alone, freak!"

She suddenly grabbed Benny's hand and started running away with him. He shouted angrily at her and pushed her to the ground.

"Hey!" She grumbled. "Stop!"

"Leave me alone!" He shouted. "We're done!"

She whimpered lightly. "What? You're breaking up with me?"

His arms crossed around his chest. "Of course I am. I should've done it ages ago."

She grunted while standing up. "You're an asshole!"

His face didn't have any emotion of hurt on it, just anger. "Leave."

She stomped on his foot, making a small whimper leave his mouth.

"Have fun being alone!" She shouted as she stormed off.

Sparky barked at her while I held him back. He jumped like crazy, but I never let him go.

"Sparky, sit!" I shouted.

He whined but obeyed. She yelled nasty insults at us while stomping away. I laughed lightly at her and finally saw her leave.

"Geez, she's insane." My eyes rolled.

Benny nodded. "Yeah."

"Is your foot okay?" I asked while letting go of Sparky.

"Yeah, I think so..."

Sparky whined and rubbed his face on Benny's leg. Benny scratched his head.

"I'm okay, buddy." He reassured.

Sparky licked his nose but kept whining.

"What's wrong, boy?" I asked while kneeling next to him.

Sparky nodded his nose up to the sky, making us both lookup. Dark clouds consumed the bright sky while the sun slowly went away.

"Oh..." I mumbled. "We should probably get going."

Benny nodded. "I agree."

Thunder crashed loudly, making Sparky bark in anger.

"It's okay, bud." I reassured. "Let's go."

I grabbed his collar and we started walking out of the sandlot. I felt a raindrop hit my nose, making it scrunch. More and more raindrops hit our faces as we picked up our pace.

"Should we go to my house?" Benny asked. "It's the closest."

I hesitated. "I don't wanna intrude."

His head shook. "You'll be fine. I don't want you walking in this weather."

"Alright." I nodded.

It started pouring as we sprinted towards Benny's house. My clothes, hair, and everything was soaked to the bone with water. Ugh. We finally got to Benny's house and practically jumped inside. We both panted as he shut the door.

Sparky shook his fur, causing water to splash on both of us.

"Thanks, Sparky." I groaned.

He whimpered lightly and jumped on my leg. I scratched his soaked fur and started shivering.

"You cold?" Benny asked.

I nodded while my teeth clattered together. "Yeah..."

"Follow me." He waved me over to him as he walked over to the staircase.

I stumbled behind him and Sparky kept whining.

"Shhh," I hushed Sparky. "It's okay."

We arrived at Benny's room and I awkwardly stood by the door, shivering endlessly. He started rummaging in his drawers and pulled out one of his sweatshirts.

"You can wear this if you want." He offered.

I hesitated. "Oh, no, I-I don't wanna steal your clothes...."

His shoulders shrugged. "I don't mind. I don't want you to be cold."

"You sure?" I sighed while grabbing it from his hands.

He nodded. "I'm sure."

"Um...could you turn around?" I asked.

"Oh, uh, y-yeah." He stuttered while spinning around.

I slowly ripped off my soaked shirt and slipped on his sweatshirt. It smelt like cologne and that scent of him.

"Okay, you can turn back around." I nodded.

He slowly turned back around and stared at me while swallowing nervously.

"What?" I questioned. "Is something wrong?..."

His head shook. "Oh, um, no, nothing wrong."

I shrugged it off and just kept standing there. We just stared at each other until Sparky started barking loudly. I jumped in fear and immediately grabbed his collar.

"Sparky!" I shushed.

He kept barking at Benny's door and wiggled around.

"I'm sorry." I groaned while pulling Sparky away from the door.

"It's okay." He reassured. "Um, I think my Mom's home."

He then left his room and I heard his muffled voice echoing in the hallway. I didn't eavesdrop on the conversation because that would be rude.

"Love you too." He said before walking back into his room.

"Who was that?" I asked.

"My Mom..." He nervously scratched the back of his neck.

"You seem nervous about that."

His shoulders shrugged. "It's nothing..."

I was gonna ask more questions, but I didn't wanna be annoying, so I just let it go. He hopped on his bed and I kept standing there.

Benny looked at me. "You can sit down if you want."

"I don't want my pants to soak your bed or anything..." I sighed.

His eyes rolled. "Oh, come here."

He suddenly grabbed my hand, causing a yelp to leave my mouth as he yanked me on his bed. I landed on top of him as I brushed the hair off of my face.

"I hate you," I grumbled.

He chuckled. "I know you do."
