I mindlessly scrolled on my phone. I just wanted my grounding to be over. I had to survive two more days and then I was free.

My phone buzzed in my hand with a new message from Benny.

Benny
"Hey, you home?"

Emmy
"Yeah, what's up?"

Benny
"I know you're still grounded but...could you let me in please?"

Emmy
"I would but I don't want to get in more trouble. I'm sorry."

Benny
"Please, Emmy. I don't see anyone's car in the driveway. I promise I'll make this quick."

Emmy
"What do you need exactly? You're acting like you're running from the police lol."

Benny
"I just need to talk to you about something quick."

Emmy
"Fine, I'll be down in a sec."

I let out a sigh. This kid never gave me a break from his weird schemes.

I slumped downstairs to the front door and opened it cautiously.

My eyes widened once I saw Benny. He was holding his hand on his side which was covered with blood.

"Oh my God..." I muttered. "Benny, wha...what-"

He cut me off by barging inside. "Please don't ask me questions right now. I just need to get this cleaned up."

I nodded slowly. "Um...uh, yeah...yeah, of course." I looked down at his bloody hand. "Can I see?"

He nodded as he slowly lifted his shirt. I nearly vomited as I saw a deep wound gushing out blood.

"Oh my..." I whispered.

"I know." he groaned. "Do you think you can help?"

"Yeah, I can. Come with me."

He followed me into the downstairs bathroom where we kept our first aid supplies. I grabbed a bottle of rubbing alcohol, some wipes, and a big bandage.

"Okay, let's go up to my room," I suggested.

He looked at me with a confused look. I let out a sigh. "So, if my dad or Luke comes home, you can escape through my window."

"Ooh." he chuckled. "I see."

I rolled my eyes. "Come on, dummy."

We quickly walked up to my room and I quietly shut the door behind me. I also locked it for some extra security.

"Okay, sit down here," I ordered as I pointed to my desk chair.

He sat down, groaning in pain in the process. I knelt in front of him while setting everything down on the floor.

"Alright, lift your shirt."

Benny lifted his shirt, revealing the wound once more.

I soaked a paper towel with rubbing alcohol while Benny let out a heavy breath.
