Chapter 5: A Girl's Life

Toby P.O.V

Judy and I searched all over for Tak, but she had vanished. The Police were getting close so we had to give up the search.

We ran four blocks to where Judy had parked the car in front of the diner. Tak teleported us, but not her car. Then we began driving around searching for Tak.

Since we were both in the car together I thought it was a good time to tell Judy what I had learned about the Crillinarians.

"Judy."

Judy held onto the steering wheel as she stared ahead at the road. "Yeah?"

"You know when I cut that Crillinarian in half?"

Judy didn't answer.

"When I look inside it was filled with machine parts."

"You mean, it was a robot?"

"I think so."

"Maybe that is why the Crillinarians need life energy," Judy said. "Because they aren't alive themselves."

"Maybe, but I think the Crillinarian did something to Brian."

"Oh?"

"He was acting weird today."

"When was this?"

"After I destroyed the Crillinarian and he came out of the Library."

"Did he act nervously?"

"A little."

"Was he playing with his hair?"

"Yeah."

A smile appeared on Judy's face. "The Crillinarian didn't do anything to him."

I stared at her. "What do you mean?"

Judy gave me a sideways glance. "He likes you."

"He likes me?"

"Yeah, he has a crush on you. He thinks you're hot."

I just couldn't believe that. Brian and I had been best friends since kindergarten.

"No way," I told Judy. "Brian is my best friend!"

"Toby, you're not a boy. You're a girl," Judy explained. "As a girl, people are going to treat you differently, especially boys."

This was just all too weird. Even though I was a girl, I still thought of myself as A boy. And I didn't want guys crushing on me. And now I had to take a leak. I was holding it for a while, hoping I could go after I changed back, but until we locate Tak who knows how long that would be.

"Judy."

"Yeah?"

"I have to go to the bathroom."

Judy sighed and pulled the car up to a gas station. I sat in the car while Judy got the key from the gas station attendant. 

When we went to where the bathrooms were out of habit I went straight to the Men's room. Judy grabbed my arm and pulled me to the ladies' room.

"Do you want me to come in with you?" Judy offered.

"No, I think I can handle it," I said, offended that she thought I needed her help to pee.

"Remember, you have to sit down now." Judy unlocked the bathroom door and opened it. "While you're inside take off your armor."

I went into the bathroom. I was not sure how to go to the bathroom as a girl. Maybe if I took off my armor first that would make it easier. It was a bit of a struggle, but I got my armor off. Then I took off my gloves and all I was wearing was my short tunic dress and silver boots.
