What if?

Chapter 4

Aedion~

Celeana came out of the room and lead me behind the stables.

It was probably not a smart idea to antagonize a assassin then let her lead me to a secluded area but I'm just so desperate for answers. 

I don't know what I was expecting from her but a hug was not it.

"I've missed you" she whispers.

"Aelin?" I ask hesitantly.

"The one and only" she says while pulling down her hood to reveal a cheeky smirk and eyes that mirrored mine. 

I pulled her back into the hug except this time I embraced back.

"What are you doing here? And why are you pretending to be Celeana Sardorthian?" I ask confused.

She gives me a sad smile "We've all done things we're not proud of to survive and when someone comes offering you safety you take it even if its the King of Assassin's" she answers.

"So you been in Rifthold this entire time" I say.

"For the most part I trained here for a while, visited the pirate lord then once I paid of my debt I came back here" she explains.

"My turn to ask a question" Aelin say.

"Ask away" I reply.

"What made you choose me, Sam said you didn't even know that I was Ardalan's Assassin when you decided that I would be the one to work with you".

"I could make something up and say that I felt called to you but honestly you were the only person who was trained and from Terrasan here" I tell her with a chuckle.

I could stay here forever talking and laughing with my cousin but we both have jobs to do.

"Promise me you'll come back " I say seriously.

"Of course after all we're starting up a rebellion" Aelin's says with a grin.

Aelin~

I walk away from Aedion nearly bouncing from joy.

When I pulled him aside it was never my intention to reveal myself  but when I stood there with him staring into his eyes something in me felt like I had to do it, and I am so glad I did.

Now came the hard part of telling Sam why I changed my mind.

....

"Change of plans, we're going with Aedion" I say bluntly when I get back into our room.

"What...Why I though you said that we were leaving?" Sam asks confusion written all over his face.

"I know but Aedion told me the details of what he needs us for and I really just want some excitement" I tell him.

Sam could defiantly tell that I was hiding something from him but if I told him the real reason I agreed to go he might never talk to me again.

....

The day we were leaving quickly came up and once again I found my heart racing, we were going to find the remaining nobility of Terrasan and I have no clue how they would react to the profession I decided to go into.

But as I mounted my horse I pushed all of these thoughts to the back of my mind.

Aedion and I rode side by side while Sam rode right behind us.

Quickly Aedion and I got back into our old rhythm of banter.

When I can't take his lectures anymore about how reckless I had been I nudge my horse to go faster leaving Aedion behind.

"See your hulking arse later" I yell.

He took that as I sign that I was starting up a race and leaned down on his horse to while speeding up.

Soon we running down the first road leaving Sam in our dust with a confused look on his face. 

It took us  little bit but we got back into our old rhythm of banter and him being overprotective when I could't take his lecturing about how reckless I had been anymore I nudged my horse to go faster and left him in my dust and yelled "see you later your hulking brute", he seemed to think I was challenging him to a race so soon enough we were racing down the dirt road leaving Sam in our dust with a confused look on his face. 

Sam~

Nothing is making sense.

Celeana acted like she hated the General but now they were talking and laughing like we used to do.

I am honestly jealous of the two of them.

If Celeana likes him better it makes sense he's a prince and I'm just an assassin.

"You can ever her if you want she obviously wants nothing to do with me anymore" I say to the Prince angrily that night when we stop to make camp.

They both burst out laughing and gagging.

"Sam I could never get involved with Aedion that way" Celeana says "Also no one ones me so you can't just hand me off like an object" she tells me with a bite in her voice.

I walk away with one thing in my mind.

I hate General Ashvyer.
