So Sam's quirk is linked to emotions, as well as his mental state

His quirk manifests in a few different forms, based on his state of mind and the strength is based on emotions

Anger is strongest, fear is second strongest, happiness is weakest (in terms of power, while happy he's more of a healer).
Sadness or Agony can vary depending on the level of emotion, it can either be very weak or stronger then anger.

1. Cat. His cat form is a symbol of survival, when his brain goes into survival priority his quirk uses this form. It can be used to move quickly and sense things nearby, not very strong but good with healing

(The pictures after this are not of Sam, they're to show the looks of what he has for each part of the quirk :3 like the tail and ears in the Cat form)

2. Bat. This form is for sneaking into places, and is caused by a very calm and level mind. It allows him to hear 5x better, fly, and fit into incredibly small spaces

3. Deer. This form is caused by the absence of emotion entirely. His body changes to be much taller and slender, as well as growing horns and a tail. This form is mainly used with summoning a bow and arrows for ranged fighting, allowing him to move on foot much quicker and giving him Incredible aim

4. Angel. This form is caused by great grief, or agony. Emotional pain gives him the ability to use his wings as shields and heal other people. This is the only form with a direct drawback, as he cries while in this state of mind which burns his face (tears are acidic in this form)

5. Devil. This form is caused by Anger. It is also the hardest to control. Sam turns nearly invincible, able to use pyrokinesis. He is very very strong in this form, stronger the angrier he gets

They all share the same drawback: Sam has trouble controlling his emotions, outside of Cat and Deer he has issues keeping the state of mind to control the other forms. He is mainly skilled in the Deer form, but the Bat form shows the most (after he gets adopted by Shizuka and feels safe :3)
