The Alpha and I

Chapter 25: Alpha Position

Henry and I did not talk as he had promised. He sent Terry into his car and someone brought me food. Now, I am done with my dinner but still he hasn't returned. Is he avoiding me now? I hope not. I really want to talk to him. Especially now that I am feeling better. Terry assured that I'll be fine. And he gave me pain killers, which I appreciated much.

"Uh! What is taking him so long?" I complained, talking to myself. I picked up the tv remote controller. Vinn Diesel's triple x is rolling when I opened the tv. I've already seen this movie but decided to watch anyway.

After thirty minutes, Henry is still not around. My eyelids are getting heavy. I sighed. Maybe he's with Grant. There's nothing to do but sleep. I lay on bed sideway, facing the bedroom's door and continue watching the movie.

Henry's POV

Being away from Maib for almost three hours now makes me uneasy. My mind is with her, more so, my heart is aching for her. But I need to attend some important matters, like eating and talking to my grandfather again. Then, I have to call my mom. I told her about Maib and she's very excited to meet her. She likes her already. My mother even ordered clothes for Maib. And I am now waiting for the delivery.

"Terry was utterly shocked, I guess!" Grant Jackson commented happily.

We are in his office right now. I nodded, "I have to warn him twice. Terry is interested to know her." I gulped when I remember how Terry's eyes flickered when he saw my mate blazing in fire. My friend's mate died two years ago by car accident. Terry died too that faithful day. He's too lonely that he almost killed himself. But when he saw Maib, his face lit up and his eyes glowed. Though he tried to keep it from me, he didn't succeed. He likes Maib. I could clearly see it in his blue eyes. I told him to never come again.

"Don't be too harsh to that lonely soul, grandson." This old alpha is also annoying.

"I am just telling him to back off. Maib is my mate. I will never allow him to see her again!" My grandfather stopped from what he's doing. He put down his pen and leaned on his chair.

"You cannot keep her or lock her in that room, Henry. Your mate is not weak. She might not friendly, but that girl has her own willpower. Your grandmother is like her. Look at us. Where is your grandmother? Instead of coming here with me, she chose to be in that charitable institution to help homeless humans." He crossed his arms and pouted his lips. What he had said about my grandma was true. She is determined, strong but caring and she loves Grant Jackson. She just want to help others, though.

"Grandfather, I need to go." Yeah, I have to leave. He will start talking about his wife.

"Henry, I need you in Canada next week. Our business needs you. You have five days to talk to Maib. I won't push the alpha position. Just come back. You've found her."

"You are still capable to run a pack. Give me time to enjoy, atleast five years more."

"Five years! That is long enough. You are ready to become the alpha. You have Maib as the Luna." Grant Jackson knotted his brows.

"She has issues about her father. I have to help her. Plus there's Zerq in the picture. He believed Maib is going to be his bride." I clicked my tongue. Zerq must be out of his mind! He will not going to get what is mine.

"Well grandson, the pack is on your side. Just in case you know." He picked up his pen again and continue scribing on the wide paper.

I said my goodnight then left the office. I hurriedly went back to my room. I miss her. And need to feel her. I pushed the door and my heart relax when I saw her small face, so peaceful while sleeping.

She's sleep. My wolf said. You kept her waiting. I couldn't respond to that because if was true. My wolf wants to talk to her. He love her voice and all about her. But I don't have the heart to wake her up. So, I turned the tv off and tiptoed into the bathroom to clean myself. When I am done, I climbed on my bed and carefully wrap Maib in my arms. She unciously moved closer to me. I could not help but to smile and kiss her head.
