"I wish I didn't have to see that earlier," you bit your bottom lip before dropping your backpack on the floor and sliding down against the wall of your home. "It makes sense that someone like him loves a girl like her...."

It wasn't long for you to stay in that position before getting up and heading to your bedroom. Sitting at your desk, you opened your drawer and pulled out your diary that you've been writing in for less than a year now.

"How can I write about what happened if it hurts so much to even think about it?" You grabbed a fist-full of your hair and rested your head on the smooth, wooden table.

Your eyes began to slowly close but a light tap on your window has you wide awake. You knew who it was, and you were right once you saw the brown little squirrel that wanted to enter.

A giggle escaped your lips and you gladly got up to push open your window for the familiar creature.

"Hey Peter~" you greet him, reaching your hand out for him to climb up to your shoulder. "Back again I see. You always seem to make me happy even when I'm on the verge of crying."

He tilts his head to the side while giving you a worried look. Well, you couldn't exactly tell but you assumed he was.

It's been a couple months since the furry animal had appeared in front of you. He just showed up at your house one day and you couldn't reject the adorable baby even if you wanted you. You two were really close and he understood you like no other, although you had no idea why he continues to visit you. He had his own family and things to deal with in his life, so why did he bother to spend time with a human? Some questions just couldn't be answered.

You sighed before taking a seat back at your desk. Peter noticed the mini book and he immediately jumped onto your diary, sniffing it to show that he was interested.

"Hey Peter, do you wanna know why I chose that name for you?" You twirled a pencil in your hand while staring at it in a trance.

His ears perked up and he began to listen to you with all of his attention.

"You remind me of a boy at my school. We share a few classes together and I like him, a lot actually. But of course, he's one of those popular guys that's surrounded by other popular girls. We've never really talked since I'm too awkward to approach him and he probably doesn't even know I exist...." You muttered sadly as Peter munches on a walnut you kept in a jar filled with them, only meant for him to enjoy.

Reaching out to stroke his fur, he nuzzled his tiny head into your hand. He had always been really clingy so he loved cuddles and pets, sparking more joy at his cuteness.

"The guy who I have a crush on... his name's Han Jisung and his cheeks are my favourite thing in the world," you laugh, noticing how Peter stops eating and looks at you for what seems like forever. "Too bad that he already has a girlfriend....."

For whatever reason, he shakes his head frantically at your statement. You couldn't tell what it meant, but you just let a tear slip out from the corner of your eye.

"Even if you think it's not true, the only person who can confirm that is Jisung. I saw Kim Miyoung confess to him right before kissing him on the lips. It hurt to watch so I ran away, and now here I am sulking about it."

More tears fell down your cheeks and sniffles filled the room. You've never liked someone so much to the point where you get this upset over the slightest things. He deserved to find his own love, and you should've expected it to not be you. Yet you still hoped, that maybe, just maybe, you could've been the one in his heart.

"Miyoung's really pretty and funny too, they're perfect for eachother," you admitted in defeat.

Peter scurried up your arm before snuggling against your chest. His warmth was just as comforting as always, and you continued to sit there with him close to you.
