The clock handle was slowly ticking closer and closer to the hour you wished would come sooner. Your foot tapped against the ground as you impatiently stayed seated at your desk.

Tick... tock... tick–

"Okay class, that's the bell. You're free to have your lunch break now," the teacher announced as everyone was already rushing out the door.

You were exhausted from all the lessons but you no longer cared about any of it, because right now you were heading to see the boy you unexpectedly fell in love with.

A lot happened, and so quickly too. You went from strangers to close friends in a span of a few months. It started when you approached him—the quiet kid that prefers to be alone most of the time—out of curiosity and boredom. You just wanted to get away from the other students and the attention they placed onto you. Apparently, the school titled you as a member of the 'popular' ones.

Did you care? Nope. You weren't someone who thrived in the spotlight. Your behaviour was the same whether or not people liked you, both in a friendly manner or even romantically—not like a guy ever confessed to you though.

Anyway, you and the mysterious boy grew comfortable around each other. It took a while to get there, but he eventually trusted you. From one little experiment of wanting to talk to him, to a bond that had you hanging out with him practically every day.

You've always wanted to tell him your feelings but every time you tried, your mind stopped you from doing so. Friends. That's all you ever were to him, and that's how he saw you. It was fine if he didn't like you back, just being with him made you happy.

He had a habit of avoiding loud and crowded areas such as the hallways and cafeteria, which is why he never ate near groups of people. And that's the reason behind you exiting the school building right this moment to look for him, your lunchbox in your hands.

After searching around the campus in hopes of finding him, there you spotted his familiar figure, sitting under a tree with his eyes closed in peace. You quickly approached him and called his name to pull his attention away from the music he was listening to from his earbuds.

"Hey Jeongin," you smiled and sat on the grass next to him, expecting a 'hi' or 'hello' like usual.

But nothing.

It was like he didn't hear you, or he pretended not to hear you. Strange... You decided to brush it off and speak once again, maybe you weren't clear enough the first time.

"Are you hungry? I cooked up some of your favourite dishes so we could share. Here," you unpacked the bag and placed the containers of varying food in front of you both.

No reaction. He simply stayed in his sleeping position and at this point, you felt a little hurt.

"Uh... Jeongin?" You tapped his shoulder multiple times, a mixture of worry and confusion growing inside of you. "Jeongin? Jeongin? JEONGIN–"

"WHAT!?!"

Your hand was harshly slapped away and you were shocked with the sudden outburst.

Anger and annoyance was written all over his features. It made you question if he was the same quiet and adorable bundle of joy you knew and loved. Never did you think that you would feel scared of him, but here you were, speechless and frozen as your fingers stung at the sharp contact of skin.

"Just stop it!! I'm trying to take a nap, can't you see?!" Jeongin groaned, leaning his back onto the trunk of the tree.

"Why is he being so distant now? He was nicer when we first met despite us being so awkward…" you thought to yourself, intimidated by the new attitude.
