You felt a bitterness deep down in your heart. The former love of your life broke up with you for no good reason. He never gave an explanation and then continued to ignore you ever since it happened three painful months ago. You were frustrated. How could he just leave you like that — like you didn't matter to him anymore?

Yet, it still broke you. The only ever person you felt right with didn't even bother to end your relationship face-to-face. Pathetic. You hated him all this time despite missing him just as much. There was one question that engraved itself into your mind this whole time: what went wrong?

Perhaps, he lost feelings. Perhaps, he loved someone else. Perhaps, it was all just a petty bet he and his friends made. Stupid, stupid, stupid. You did not want to believe any of those possibilities. A small part of you had given up, but the rest had hope he did it for something important — one in which he had no choice in.

You pushed back the loud thoughts roaming your head. Right now, you needed to get ready to see him. Every inch of your skin was flaring with nerves. You weren't sure if you wanted to yell at him first for being such a jerk, or cry and tell him you missed him nonetheless.

Whatever was going to happen, you were determined to face it head-on.

You stuffed your hands into your jacket pockets and proceeded to walk around the leaf-covered park, with all sorts of oranges, yellows, and browns scattered up in the trees and piled down below.

Winter was coming soon, and the drop in temperature proved that. You still remember when Jisung wished to see the first snow with you. The excitement on his face when he told you had you smiling from his cuteness. However, that dream was now long gone.

A melodious tune reached your ears and you stopped in your tracks, picking up your phone to answer the call. The user made you swallow.

"...Hello?"

You did your best to remain calm, but then you heard his voice, and that twisted a knot in your heart.

"Hey, have you arrived?"

Your words were caught your throat. You almost forgot what he sounded like, yet at the same time, you could never forget. Every night, that hearty laugh and playful voice was all you could hear. Like he was haunting you on purpose after the event.

"Uh– yeah... I'm here."

"Where are you? Wait, actually, is that you by that bench over there?"

You froze. Slowly, and cautiously, you turned around and saw a figure across from you in the distance. Your hand dropped by your side. He was actually there, eyes meeting yours and feet pulling him straight ahead.

When he was in front of you, your heart stopped. It hurt seeing him after what he did. But a part of you was glad you could be together once again. You stared at his cheeks, and his nose, and his lips, before looking back at him.

"I'm so glad you could make it." Jisung smiled softly. "How... How are you?"

He appeared just as nervous as you were — if not, more. You could hear the hesitancy in his words and see him fidgeting behind his back. It made you forget, just for a brief second, what he did. As if he turned back into the adorable, childish boyfriend you knew and loved.

"I'm fine," you said quickly, feeling the tension in the air. "So, what did you want to tell me?"

"About that, I want to apologize first. To your face this time."
