Sora made his way slowly through the grass and wood. He’d spent close to the entirety of the night on the hill overlooking the ocean, the place where the veil had once shimmered in the air. Pudgeys aren’t exactly the most intelligent creatures by any stretch of the imagination, but they aren’t stupid either. Part of him had wanted to be by the Prince’s side where he belonged, but Sarah…
He could feel her absence and it left him sad and confused. He knew that that place, that spot marked the end of her trail of magic but then it was just… gone. He didn’t quite understand what that meant, but he knew that she wasn’t there. Between his own sorrow and the mournful aura pouring through his connection with his Prince, he couldn’t help but release a few cries of grief into the air. He’d waited as long as he could, but Sarah wasn’t coming back and he needed to get to the Prince.
It wasn’t a very fast journey for the short legged creature, but he wasn’t in much of a hurry anyway. With heavy limbs and heart he made his way, not knowing what he was supposed to do now.

The King sat watching his son stare out of the immense windows of the throne room. He had done so on many occasions, but now there was a heaviness that hung between them, a tension that he wasn’t sure how to ease. He always wondered which fae had had the audacity to break the fragile heart of the Prince, but never had he imagined this.
A human.
His son had bonded with a creature they had been taught to fear. How could he have fallen in love with something so horrible? His son…
He lifted to his feet, crossing the distance without a sound and stood shoulder to shoulder with Mitchell as they stared out at the forest beyond. The silence dragged on as they remained lost in their own thoughts.
“A human.”
“Father-”
“You knew better. I taught you better. Your mother taught you better.”
“You are wrong about them. They are not all monsters. They are indecisive and lazy and full of excuses, but they are not all evil.”
“He has you fooled, enchanted.”
“You do not know him. You do not understand, you cannot.”
“Then help me. I need you to explain. Explain to me how the crowned Prince of Illyria, my son, fell under the spell of a human.”
Mitch began his story at the beginning, where all stories are born. His father was quiet, but his mind was reeling. So much time without even an inkling that his son was disappearing into another world to fraternize with monsters.
Mitchell had always been curious, especially as a child, constantly disappearing to explore with his friends. Never had he dreamed this would be the end result. He had to think of something, a way to fix this… to break the bond, if indeed there was one. There was no precedent for this, no previous experience to go on.
But there must be a bond if what Mitch was saying was true. If this human had remembered him despite the blocking of his memories, if he had still been able to remember his face, to see him in his dreams, then a bond must be present.
He wasn’t sure how, but he had a guess and that is what he would go on. If Mitchell’s magic had created a bond, rather than two magics connecting and joining, then maybe that was the key. Maybe this human was being controlled by the magic now surrounding his heart.
He couldn’t be sure as this was merely speculation and guesswork, but he could sow the seed of doubt, and that would be enough. Now all he needed was the only tool that could break whatever this mutation of a true bond was and he would have his son back again.
