"Breath, Benedict, breath," Ben told himself. "You've only lived with the woman for a year now and have two children with her!" He was getting frustrated at himself for being so nervous. He wasn't having seconds thoughts, by any means, but he just hated being this flustered! And for it being a wickedly cold December day, he was burning up!
A moment later, there was a knock on the door and Tim's voice behind it, asking, "Ben? Are you ready? It's almost time, son."
Ben took a deep breath and called back, "Yes, I'm ready. You can come in." Tim walked in, smiling at his son. Ben smiled back, then asked, "How's my best man doing?"
Tim chuckled and told him, "He's occupied in his play pin. Though, he has been asking for you." Ben nodded, and then took one more deep breath. "Alright," he told Tim. "I'm ready."
**
He was shuffling his feet, ringing his fingers around in his hand, wiping sweat from his forehead, rubbing his sweaty palms on his slacks.
Why was he so nervous?! He's been dreaming about this day since the two of you met in 2010! Yeah, it took him four years to proclaim his love to you, and then to get you pregnant with twins just a month later, but his point is is that he just really fucking loves you and he doesn't want to mess it up!
"Dada!" Nate called beside him, pulling him out of his thoughts. He looked down at his one year old and smiled. He made him his best man, but also had a second since Nate couldn't exactly plan all the things Martin put together.
Yes, Martin was his "second" Best Man as a thank you (and apology) for the sheets on that amazing Halloween night.
Ben knelt down to Nate and said, "You are being such a good boy for daddy. Are you excited for mummy and daddy to finally get married?" Nate, he knew, didn't understand any of that, but he nodded with a huge grin anyways. Ben chuckled and kissed his cheek.
Just as he stood up, the venue's pianist started playing "Canon in D" and the large, white doors slowly opened. Ben took a sharp intake of breath and started to mindlessly bounce in excitement. Martin had to put a hand on his shoulder to get him to stop.
First to come through those white doors was Emma. She was the wabbly-walking flower girl. Both kids just learned how to walk a couple months ago, so she was still getting her sea legs in.
Ben noticed that poor Emma was looking nervously at all the people that were staring at her. She didn't even throw any flower pedals, as she was too bust taking it all in. Her eyes started watering up a bit because she didn't know where her parents were.
That was, until, she spotted Ben. "Dada!" He gave her a warm smile and a tiny wave, while everyone started laughing. Then she just dropped the tiny basket of pedals and tried her darn hardest to run to him. The laughter erupted throughout the room, as well as some "awes" and "that's so sweet".
Both the grandparents sprung into action to get her, but Ben put his hands up and told them, "It's fine, it's fine. Come here, baby girl." He lifted her up and cradled her as she cried a bit from the crowd scaring her. He kissed her head and whispered soothing words into her ear, as the bridesmaids started making their way down the aisle.
Finally, you came into view and all of time stopped. Ben thought he could have never seen a more beautiful sight in all his life. Without taking his eyes off you, he handed Emma to his mother. His eyes were wandering all over your dress, your curves, face, hair, everything.
She is the most stunning creature I've ever seen in my fucking life, he thought to himself in awe.
Once you approached him, he took your hand and led you up to his side. He was in complete awe, he really had no words to describe his love or your beauty. You were perfect in his eyes.
