Chapter 10

Still the same day

Lexies Pov:

It's been a couple of hours since I went into surgery and I just finished scrubbing out and I'm about to go check on Hailey. I find her room and go in "Hey Hailey" I say. "Hi Dr. Grey" Hailey said quietly. "What are you up to" Lexie" I asks. "I was drawing and they said I have to have surgery tonight" Hailey said showing I the drawing. "This is so pretty" I say. "Thanks" Hailey says tearing up. "What's wrong" I say putting my hands through Haileys dirty blonde hair. "Nothing it just hurts" Hailey says closing her eyes to let the tears out. "It's ok you're going to be ok" I say pulling Hailey into a soft hug. "Am I going to go back to them" Hailey asks looking up from my chest. "No you aren't don't worry" I say looking down at her.

Madelines Pov:

I'm in first period with Nick and we sit next to each other and talk till the teacher starts class. Everyone keeps on talking over the teacher but it doesn't really matter it's not like we pay attention. Nick keeps on looking at me with a smile and I'm starting to get a little weirded out. "Stop looking at me with like that" I say. "Like what" Nick asks knowing what he's doing. I roll my eyes and just text Sofia.

I leave Sofia on opened and start talking to Nick again he is still looking at me like that but I give up.

I just got out of my last class and I'm walking home I made friends in every class so she was saying by to them when Nick hugs me from behind. "Shit you scared me" I yell smacking him on the shoulder. "Ow" Nick says. "Where ya heading" Nick asks. "Home Mark is going to be there" I say. "They still don't trust you alone" Nick asks. "Nope they aren't scared I'm going to try to you know myself again but they don't want me to cut" I say. "Have you........cut" Nick asks. "Um no I was going to but I couldn't find a blade" I say looking down. "You know when you have the urges call me I'm your best friend and I'll distract you, I would rather you talk to me than cut" Nick says looking at me. "Thanks Nicky" I say laughing knowing that name bothers him. "Shut up" Nick says pushing me playfully to the side. "No Nicky" I say laughing. "I hate you" Nick says laughing. "You love me" I say. "Mhm Sure" Nick says. "Rude" I say rolling my eyes.

We get to the front of my house and it looks like no one is home. "Mark isn't here yet so I need to wait for him" I say. "My parents are probably not home either" Nick says. "Oh I see his car so I gotta go" I say she felt like she was being awkward. "Ok bye my little idiot" Nick says pulling me into a hug. "Bye Nicky" I say. "Shut the fuck up" Nick says laughing and walking away.

I watch him leave to then turn and see Mark staring at me. I walk over to the car and get in. Mark is looking at me with the look that intimidates me so I'm just answering to snaps but I couldn't take it anymore. "What" I say out if no where. "Nothing" Mark says looking at the road. "If it were nothing you would stop staring into my soul" I say as we get to the hospital. "I'm not" Mark says turning off the car and we get out of the car. "Mark what I know you want to tell me something" I say walking in with him. It's all silence and we go to the nurses station and he see Derek. "Hi" Mark and I say. "Mads has a boyfriend" Mark says out of no where loud enough for mom that was a few steps away to hear. "What the fuck" I say. "Hey language" Mark says I roll her eyes. "Maddie has a what-" Mom says walking towards them but getting cut off by me. "Mom he saw me hug Nick and he now thinks Nick is my boyfriend which he is not he is my best friend" I say. "Oh Nick Mark never get my hopes up again" Mom says disappointed. "Who is Nick" Mark asks. "Nick is a boy I've been talking to since I was in the hospital and is now my best friend so hugging isn't a big deal" I explain. "It always starts like that then boom you kiss then date then get pregnant by 16" Mark says. "Mark that would be next year no thank you" I say. "Whatever same thing" Mark says being stubborn.

After all of that I go to mom's gallery while she does the surgery and fall asleep. Out of no where I hear Amelia come in. "These chairs aren't comfortable how do you fall asleep on them" Amelia says as I sit up. "You get used to it after years of having to do this" I say. "So Mini Sloan how was your day" Amelia asks. "Mini Sloan?" I ask. "Yeah you are like a little version of Mark the eyes nose face in general" Amelia says. "The only thing I have of my mom is probably my hair" I say. "You look more like Mark than Lexie" Amelia says. "Well I mean that isn't a bad thing don't they call him mcsteamy" I ask. "Yeah your aunt meredith and her friends used to call him that" Amelia says. "Well at least he got around" I say. "No you aren't gonna get around I don't care about boyfriends but no sex till you're at least 16 or 17 and with protection" Amelia says. "I know either way my da- Mark doesn't let me I think on the other hand my mom is my number one cheerleader for my relationships" I say. "Why don't you call Mark dad I mean isn't he your dad" Amelia asks. "He is but I feel like that would be weird like hey you weren't in my life for 14 years but hi dad" I say. "Sarcasm I like it, you're a good kid" Amelia says. "Thanks wouldn't you be my aunt or something like that" I ask. "I'm like Marks sister so it would technically make me your aunt but don't call me auntie amelia" Amelia says. "Ok I won't Amy" I say and Amelia gives me a death stare. "Don't call me that either" Amelia says. "I like it" I say. "Whatever" Amelia says.
