A Multiversal Adventure with a Gacha System

Chapter 4

The next morning, I woke up early in the morning at 6 am to do my daily routine. Pyrrha woke up soon after me as well.

Lapis: Oh I'm sorry, did I wake you?

Pyrrha: Oh not at all, I usually get up at this time to do my morning practice.

Lapis: Wow, what a coincidence. Me too! Wanna join me?

Pyrrha: I'd love to!

So she joined my routine. We jogged outside around Beacon's grounds, doing laps around the whole complex. We saw a few other students up and jogging as well, but no other first years. We scoped out the gyms at Beacon, and they were pretty top notch. Makes sense though, they were meant to train Aura enhanced warriors, so the training facilities should be the best. We lifted some weights, did some exercises, and also familiarized ourselves with how some interesting equipment worked that we'd never seen before.

Lapis: I know you're supposed to be strong. But I bet I'm stronger. Want to fight?

Pyrrha: Don't be so confident. Let's do it.

I seemed to have lit a competitive fire in Pyrrha. I guess she's a competitive person, who hides behind modesty. Interesting. We got into the arena. I decided I'd beat her with pure martial arts, I let her get her weapons though.

Pyrrha: You sure you want to fight without a weapon?

Lapis: I'm actually better at unarmed combat than armed. So don't feel like I'm giving you too much of a handicap or something. If anything I'm taking you more seriously.

Pyrrha: Just the way I like it.

I decided to initiate the fight, I leaped towards her at high speed armed with a kick to her head. She deflected my kick with her shield and stabbed towards me with her weapon in javelin form. I quickly reacted with a Jujutsu throw where I pulled her in while I was still flying in the air and tackled her to the ground. She quickly shifted her weapon to its Xiphos form (it's a sword type) and stabbed towards my gut. I blocked it with my knees and punched right next to her head. There was a huge crater next to where her head lied. She got the point, I won.

Pyrrha: Wow, I didn't realize you were so skilled. I don't mean to brag or anything but I was the champion of a few tournaments you know.

Lapis: Yeah, I know. I just haven't done much fighting in the public eye. I have plenty of experience though, mostly against the Grimm. I was part of the forces that killed the Grimm to reclaim the uninhabited parts of Menagerie.

Pyrrha: Oh my, sounds like you've had a jump-start in training to be a huntress. Could we do this again sometime? I'd love to hone my skills.

Lapis: Of course, in fact if you'd let me I'd like to make this a daily routine?

Pyrrha: That sounds great!

Lapis: Also, since we're partners and all, are you willing to learn some martial arts from me. I know quite a few, and I'm certain we can improve your combat abilities further.

Pyrrha: You want to teach me? I don't want to take time out of your training or anything.

Lapis: Pyrrha. You're my partner. I want to train you. I don't want to end up burying my partner on the field because I didn't do everything I knew how to make them stronger. And, well, I know we haven't known each other long but you're one of my closest friends already.

It may seem strange, but it was true. I had a hard time bonding with kids my age, since I was an adult. The isolation in the mines hadn't really helped either. In Terra everyone looked up to me, but here it was nice to just relax and let loose. Pyrrha looked really touched at what I said. She spoke to me in a small voice.
