The house I saw in front of me made me speechless. It was a weird pale green colour, which still managed to look good, with big windows all around. A long winding drive-way was already filling with cars, the floor littered with empty red plastic cups. All lights were on, illuminating the dark, letting you know where to go. The house seemed to have a pulse, heavy loud pop music blaring out. People were everywhere outside, some in groups or just couples. Inside the actual house, lots more shadows danced about waving hands and nodding heads.
"Zach lives here?!" I asked an incredulous look on my features.
"Yeah. It's pretty big isn't it?" Hunter said, just looking bored and unfazed.
"Uh...Yeah! You don't seem surprised by this." I noticed, finding it weird he wasn't still amazed by the house.
"I've just seen a bigger house that's all. Come on, let's go inside. It's freezing out here." Hunter shrugged, weaving his way through the cups and people.
I dropped the subject, knowing I wouldn't get anymore answers out of him.
The door to the house had been propped open by a large case of beer, which Hunter took two out of. He popped open the caps, and handed one to me.
I took a swig of it, and felt the cool liquid burn my tongue.
I must have made a weird face, because Hunter burst into laughter. He had a nice laugh, strong and manly.
"Hey Flores, I'll be back in a second, wait here. I'm going to go find Zach."
I bobbed my head, and took another long drink of beer.
After standing around for about 15 minutes, I set out to find Hunter. I moved past the crowds of the people, until I saw his familiar brown hair.
I went over to him, and saw him standing next to a tall brunette, who was giggling at him. Instead of talking to her, he looked like he was trying to prise her off of him, her long manicured nails held onto his arm with an iron grip.
"Flores! Flores! Come help me here." Hunter pleaded, the brunette seeming to have not heard him.
I looked straight at him, waggled my fingers, and pretended to be very interested in the design of the ceiling. I told him not to call me Flores! I felt an evil grin take over.
"Flores! Ughh! India! Some help please!"
I finally gave in, slightly annoyed at the girl who was still hanging of him like a stubborn hangnail.
"Hunter baby. Who is she?" I feigned surprise, and put on my best stay-away-from-my-boyfriend look.
"I'm Casey. And you are?" The brunette answered a sneer on her face.
"His girlfriend!" Then I threw the remaining beer in my bottle over her. Not the bottle. Just the beer.
"Oh my gosh! You ruined my dress." She shrieked.
"And you've tainted my boyfriend, now move!"
Casey stalked off, her hair wet from the beer.
I hated to admit that I felt better once she had let go of him. And the beer all over her.
"Aww. What a sweet and caring girlfriend you are. Come give your boyfriend a kiss."
"What else was I supposed to do? I didn't exactly have time to plan a battle strategy now did I?"
"Thank you Flo-I mean India."
I smiled at him, and then frowned when I saw who was coming towards us. Kaitlyn.
She had a short sleeveless dress on, a deep blood red colour that matched her lips.
And she had her sights set on Hunter.
"Hunter." I said.
"What?"
"Kiss me!"
"What!?"
"Just hurry up!"
I felt his lips move to mine, and my arms snake around his neck. It felt magical. Then it stopped, when I heard someone clear their throat.
"Hunter! Want to dance?" Kaitlyn asked a sweet smile on her face, one I could see right through.
Hunter sounded out of breath when he answered her.
"Um... Sure... Let me just talk to India for a second."
"Of course. Don't keep me waiting."
She sauntered off, and Hunter just stared at me.
"Well. What was that for?"
"Don't look so worried. It didn't mean anything. I just thought Kaitlyn would disappear when she saw us together. I guess she didn't."
I lied. It did mean something, but I couldn't tell him that.
"Yeah. It meant nothing to me either. I've got to go dance with Kaitlyn now."
Then he took off in the direction Kaitlyn went.
Okay. That stung a bit. A lot. I know I said it first, but a teeny tiny part of me hoped he would say it did mean something to him.
I should apologise, for kissing him.
I go to find him, and stop in my tracks.
There, in his arms, her hands around his neck, kissing him like I had done a few minutes before was Kaitlyn.
My vision blurred. My eyes become teary. I couldn't look away.
I don't know why I was so upset. I wasn't his real girlfriend; he was allowed to kiss other girls.
When they both finally came up, Hunter looked up and saw me. His eyes widened, and he looked at Kaitlyn, who had also seen me. She smirked.
My legs finally remembered how to run, and I turned and ran out the house, struggling to breath.
