I follow the address Hunter gave me, and something about the street seemed familiar. I glance around at all the surrounding houses, trying pinpoint what I recognised. All the houses were a different pastel colour, ranging from salmon pink, to a light sunset red.
Seeing a light green house made me remember. Zach lives here.
In the rich part of town.
His house looked different, without red cups scattered everywhere this time. Come to think of it, I hadn't seen Zach since the party.
I shook my head, dismissing all the wild crazy thoughts I had on where he'd been. The tamest being that he was a spy on a secret mission to save the world from killer penguins. I have a weird brain, I know.
I approach Hunter's house, and quickly survey the house. Like the other houses, it was a pastel colour, a strange shade of purple.
There were a few bushes around it, and it was clearly the biggest house on the street. Though all the houses were very big.
I knock on the door, intimidated by the grandness. Even Zach's house wasn't as huge.
I was greeted by a pretty blonde woman, with her hair tied up in a bun. She was wearing a casual blouse and skirt, and had a large smile on her face. Her features looked like Hunter's.
"Hiya Sweetie. I'm Hunter's mother, Bethany. And you must be India. I've heard so much about you.Hunter's upstairs, first room on the right."
And before I could even utter one word, she was gone, her skirt flowing behind her.
I softly walked up the carpeted stairs, admiring the beautiful artwork I passed.
I stop at the door that Hunter's mother pointed me to, and carefully knock on the door, worried about what he wanted to talk about.
"Come in." He called.
I pushed open the door, and stood in the doorway, quickly trying to take in my surroundings.
The room was kind of plain compared to the rest of the house.
The walls were painted a deep blue, and had a few posters on the wall, a couple of them were of a band I haven't heard off.
A chair sat in the corner, facing the bed Hunter was laying on. He was wearing the same clothes he wore when I saw him earlier, and in his hand was a book.
He glanced up from reading, and put the book down. He gestured to the chair to tell me to sit down.
I sat, then looked up at him, waiting for him to speak.
He asked me to come, so I was not going to be the first one to speak.
"So, you met McKenzie." He finally said.
"Yeah I did. She seemed really...nice." I lied, not wanting to use the words that I really thought about her.
"So you probulary want to know who she is."
Duh! She clung to you like wet clothing even after I told her we were dating. Okay fake dating.
Instead of saying that though, I just nodded my head, waiting for him to answer my unasked question.
He sighed, then started talking.
" I've known McKenzie since before I came to this school. We were best friends, and did pretty much everything together. But then a couple of months ago, my parents told me we were moving, And it took me a while to tell her I was going. The day before I left, I told her, and she didn't speak to me at all, she just listened, then stared at the wall. So I left her. I moved here, and we still didn't speak. Then today I found out she had moved here, like me. And that's all."
