I took one last look in the mirror before I grab my purse and phone, finally going out my room. Before I was able to exit the house, I heard a loud bang from my stepbrother's room and saw his head popping out from the stairway.

"Can you tell your boyfriends to pipe down with the horn? I'm trying to sleep here!" He was in nothing else but his boxers with his messy bed hair. Being the same age as me, you might be wondering why he was still at home and unprepared?

Well, he had done some nasty stuff in the locker room, got caught and was currently on suspension. So no senior prom for him. Not that he mind.

I rolled my eyes at him and waved goodbye before I brisk walk to the car. Laura had the front seat, with her boyfriend as the driver. Layla had taken the back seat with her date, who was in basketball with her. The only spot left was the middle seat and my breath hitched in my throat as I looked at my date.

He was so gorgeous! His blonde hair was slicked back by hair gel and his suit, slightly looking loose an him, was giving off the rich CEO vibe. He gave me a smile before he patted the empty space beside him. "Get in, princess, or we would be late."

Damn it! I was staring!

Quickly, I got on while his friends were cooing at how nice I look in the white off shoulder dress. I looked at my hands as the praises got into my head, making me turn beetroot red. I was waiting for a compliment from my crush that might make me soar high into the clouds but all I had in return was a smile from him.

My heart sank and it must have shown on my face because Laura's boyfriend, Fred, turned around and coaxed his friend into saying something. "Yo Brandon, Ash looks good right?"

Brandon, looked away from his phone, straight into Fred's face. "Huh? You called?"

I could literally feel my heart crushing in my chest by an unknown force. I should have known Brandon was that kind of person. He always had been.

He had been close friends with Fred and Mike, Layla's date, since freshman year. Since Fred had known Laura, the six of us had hang out a lot. I thought he would have at least felt something for me — but guess I was wrong.

The quiet boy in the group but teases when talked to. That very trait of his was what made me like him but all this while, he didn't have an ounce of feelings for me. I was dejected, knowing my confession will end in rejection. However, I stopped my tears from falling as the car started and went on. Layla's hand reached for my shoulder, as comfort.

It didn't take very long before the car halted to a stop in the school's parking lot. It was dimly lit as we exited the car. The music was so loud, it could be heard from the gymnasium till here.

"Wow! Isn't it exciting! Our one and only senior prom night!" Laura exclaimed as she grabbed hold of both mine and Layla's hands. The twin sister looked unimpressed as she looked straight at the building. She turned to me and gave a small smile.

"Very exciting, Laura. Who the hell though that building a gymnasium near the parking lot was a good idea?"

"Stop being a wet blanket, Layla! We're gonna have so much fun!" Laura let go of our hands and grabbed onto her partner's arm as they started to make way towards the gym. Mike chuckled as he shook his head at the couple but followed the act as he extended his arm towards Layla. Of course Layla took it and walked forth, leaving me and Brandon alone. I was so nervous, thinking of words to say to him but I stopped when a rustling sound nearby made me jumped.

"Hey, you coming?" Brandon was strangely ahead of me as I turned to looked at the direction of the sound. Scared, I picked up my skirt and jogged towards him. We walked awkwardly into the gym, where the music starts to be clearer and louder.
