After we arrived into the gym and signed our names on the registration table, we quickly found a table that fit all six of us.

After that, Laura and Fred jumped into the dance floor while Layla and Mike went to get some drinks. I was awkwardly seated on the table, looking at the dance floor, at the students grinding their body against each other while Brandon was on his phone.

Ever since we stepped foot into the gymnasium, he had been on his phone and we didn't talk much at all. I was kind of curious about what he was doing but of course, I couldn't ask.

"Here's your drinks!" Mike had to shout against the music. I took a cup from his hand and drank the fruit punch content. They took a seat opposite me while smiling at each other, bobbing their head to the music.

"I don't understand why they always make fruit punch for prom. Couldn't they serve coke or something else?" I said, as the music slowed down into a slow tempo one. Mike agreed while Layla just nodded.

Laura came back to the table, dragging a panting Fred behind her. They both tiredly flopped down on their chairs as Laura took off her heels. "Oh, my gosh! I haven't partied in heels for so long, I forgot how much it hurt!

Layla said something that I couldn't hear and they started to bicker back and forth. I was just watching their antic when Fred looked at me, mouthing towards Brandon. I shook my head.

No way, I'm not ready to go for it!

By this time, the twins had stopped arguing and were staring at me. Even Mike was in it too.

I sighed, feeling defeat and rolled my eyes before I turned towards Brandon. "Hey...um...you wanna dance?"

He looked up from his phone for a brisk moment before his eyes flickered behind me and the side of his lips pulled up into a smile. It disappeared a moment later and he turned to his friends. "Sorry guys, got to go."

Before any of them could reply, he left. I sighed, defeated and raised my hands in a surrender motion.

"Don't tell me I didn't try hard enough," I said, tears on the verge of falling. I couldn't lift up my head to look at my friends. However, I could feel their sympathetic gazes and I laughed, emotionless.

"I'm going to get a refill," I said, taking my red cup from the table and went towards the counter. A few students were hanging around there, some were kissing against the counter. I was not in the mood so I angrily told them to move, which they did, but not before they flipped me off.

Large bowls of fruit punch laid in front of me which I bitterly looked at, still thinking if I should get some coke instead. Remembering there was a vending machine behind the gym, I discarded the red cup into the trash can and proceed out the gym.

Ugh, why is everyone making out here?!

Everywhere I turned, some kids were sucking each others face off and I silently was glad that no one was on their knees...yet. I gagged at the image that flashed in my head and made way towards the vending machine. I was thankful I bought a few notes in my purse as I dropped the money into the machine and pressed the button for my coke.

It came out in a few seconds and thank goodness it was cold. I bend down to get my change, hearing giggle behind me as a girl came out of the toilet, followed by a guy behind her.

"Oh, you came so much in my mouth but luckily I had some mints with me!"

I gagged, mentally. Why would you do that in the school's toilet? They are the most disgusting part of the school. What's worst was that it was the gym's toilet! A thousand times more dirty than the ones in the school building.

I shook my head, paid no attention to them as I collected my change. They finally walked past behind me and I straightened up, a few steps behind them when I realised the guy look familiar.

It was Brandon!

And the girl clinging against his arm was his ex-girlfriend that he broke up five months ago.

I thought she was already in a relationship with the football quarterback?

I stopped on my track and watched, with mouth opened, as they casually strode back into the gym. This time, I didn't bother with keeping my tears in as they came streaming down my face. I was glad no one else was around me and just cried my heart out.

I should have known that he would still be in contact with her. He loved Amanda dearly and couldn't believe she broke up with him. I sighed and shook my head, the tears falling from my face.

Explains why he had been on his phone the whole day today. He was eagerly waiting for this moment.

I scowled at my own stupidity. How could I have thought he would be interested in me when he hardly paid attention to me?

"Well, I guess that makes two of us," a voice came behind me and I jumped with shock. I quickly wiped my eyes, making sure my eyeliner and mascara was not smudged. A hand sat on my shoulder and I turned around towards the voice.

"W-what?" I slowly looked up at the guy. He chuckled when I finally saw his face. Even in the dim light, anyone could recognised the starred quarterback of Eastwood High, Zion Matthews. His deep blue tuxedo suit jacket was hung over one shoulder and his bow tie was loosen up. He might be smiling down at me but I could see the anger in his dark green eyes.

He had a neat buzz cut due to the vigorous workout he had to do to keep up his status as the star and his face was clean shaven as it was obvious he was trying to look good tonight.

"I mean I saw my girlfriend with your date coming out of the toilet. So I guess that makes us two idiots."

It was almost as if he could read my mind. I took a step back from him, straightening out my dress and holding the coke bottle near my chest.

"I...sorry..." I don't even know why I apologised but I did and I blushed slightly, feeling embarrassed since I didn't know what else to say.

"Why are you apologising? It was not your fault," he had an eyebrow raised, quizzically. Then he chuckled when he saw my face reddening. "Are you okay though? Your eyes are slightly black."

He leaned forward, close enough for me to take a whiff of his cologne. The fragrance was so good that I had unconsciously closed my eyes. I felt his hand touch my face, where my eye makeup was sure running down but he pulled back his hand quickly upon the rustling sound nearby.
