4.30 am.
A tap on my hand woken me up. I opened my eyes slowly, looking at the culprit. It was Laura. Her hair was tied into a French braid, courtesy to Layla, I assumed, and without her make up on, she looked paler than white. I groaned and shifted uncomfortably, only to notice that I had been sleeping, snuggly against Zion.
Of course, that was why Laura felt the need to wake me up. I gave her a small smile and tried to get out from my position but Zion shifted in his sleep, tightening the grip he had around my waist. I sighed, rubbing a hand on my face to wake me up.
She signaled behind me so I strained my neck to see that Danial was leaned against the wall. He looked very uncomfortable in the position and I felt sorry for him.
"What happened?" She mouthed so that the rest didn't wake up. I gave her a face and shrugged. I have no idea how to explain the situation. Laura wasn't a very calm person; once she had panicked about painting her nails in the wrong colour for weeks.
I shook my head slowly, asking her for the time. She showed it to me. 4.35 am. They are coming to save us soon. My heart was thumping so loudly in my chest, I wonder out of excitement or nervousness.
"You're very loud," the voice was so close to my ears. I jumped up slightly and turned to look at Zion. Which part of me was loud? I don't even remember talking. I had my brows raised by now, confused. Zion was silently burying his face at the crook of my neck, inhaling whatever scent I have. When he turned to face me, his eyes shone the same golden colour but after a blink, it was gone.
He noticed I was staring and bow down to kiss the tip of my nose. "Princess, you shouldn't look at me like that."
Then he winked and released his grip on my waist to stand up. I was lost of words. First, his eyes were a different colour and now he was flirting with me again. Laura and I watched as he walked steadily towards the glass door, just standing far enough to peer outside.
"I think he likes you," Laura whispered into my ears. I have never snapped my head faster than this. My mouth was agape and my hand lightly slapped my friend on the shoulder.
"Don't say such things early in the morning, Laura. It isn't funny." Then I looked at Zion as he was slowly trying to get a better view of the outside with minimal noise made. "Besides, he had just broken up with Amanda."
Laura was shaking her head, totally disregarding whatever I had told her. She pulled me into a hug and wrinkled her nose when she pulled away. "Don't you just hate it when you sweat and you end up smelling bad? I'm talking about you, by the way."
I groaned and pushed Laura away, cursing her as I did so. She had no reason to remind me that I was a sweaty and stinky mess.
Suddenly, I heard Brandon groaned beside me and he woken up, yawning in the process. I shifted further from him. Even though. we were cool with each other, I still feel awkward being beside him.
Ignoring him, I took out all the pins from my hair, keeping them into my purse and tie my hair up into a bun. The nape of my neck became expose and I suddenly felt hot, heavy breathing behind me.
"Sorry, I couldn't help it. Necks are my weak spot." Brandon began to explain but I kept quiet, rolling my eyes in annoyance. I end up moving away from him and stood. Gosh, how much longer do we need to stay in here?
My off shoulder dress raised up as I put my hands together and stretched them up, groaning. I yawned once and approached Zion quickly, trying to get far away from Brandon as possible.
I don't hate him, now that we had talked it out but I was still awkward. Though, no matter what kind of person Brandon turned out to be, I would still be his friend. "So all I got to do is just move on."
"From what?" Zion surprised me after he had seen me walking towards him.
I shook my head, just giving him a small smile. "From my crush."
He nodded, understanding what I meant. He looked like he wanted to say something but he end up not uttering a single word as he pulled me closer to the door. I peered outside, but couldn't see any silhouette of the monsters any where. Maybe they have wondered out from the school ground but we should still be careful.
"How many were out there?" I asked Zion, as he straightened up, massaging his temple.
He looked tired.
"I'm not sure. Can't even do an estimation that easily," he said and held a hand out.
I looked at him, then to his hand, hesitantly. He seem to notice and retract his hand back while sheepishly smiling at me. It irked me that he felt so close, yet I knew nothing about him. I was about to open my mouth when suddenly a loud bang could be heard and the sky turned bright orange.
All eyes were now up to the glass rooftop, watching as the orange and red danced around against the dark sky and smoke began to appear. I held my breath, looking away from the orange to search for Danial. He was already looking at me, his mouth turning into a smile.
We were finally going to be rescued!
