As a bucket of black ink poured
And covered every inch of the canvas;
Diminishing all the whiteness in it.
It spread so vast and dark,
Setting an encompassing mark and presence.
Slowly it simmered away then, smoothening;
Letting out lighted pearls from within.
They shone proudly amidst the dark ink
And then, slowly, the whole space
Wasn’t just a vast black canvas—
It was as though, sprinkled
With an array of crystals
Addressing itself like an asphalt,
Built out of diamonds in the sky.—S. A. Khan
