Tess's ears shot up, they both heard some soft words, an almost musical beckoning. Mnem went at pause, and nearly startled as a woman paced from behind a tree. She wore a robe that was tied in places and looped in others, it gave her gracefulness and was coloured with deep reds. She whispered something again, and it seem like a bird called them, her auburn hair swirled suddenly as a breeze caught perfect curls.
"Hello." Said Mnem then smiled. She was instantly drawn to the strange figure, curiosity led her to stride and meet the woman eye to eye. Mnem's hand reached to touch the ladies hair, but her hand was met and pushed away. Their eyes held, friendliness passed between them without words.
"I know you from somewhere." Said Mnem as if remembering a dream. The curved woman replied:
"I've watched you. You're the dreamer. You think in pictures, not words. Here." The lady handed over an object made of bone. It was worn and polished by handling. "This is The Little Lo, my ancestors shaped it from Mammoth tusk. Don't lose it, always have it , keep it secret."
"Why?" Mnem's thumb toyed with the carved bone, it rode along a ridge that met a neck. It was a carving of a wolf.
"You need to focus your innate ability, you are much more than a dreamer. You connect to the animal kingdom and are part of something that the people have forgotten. Look at the hound." Mnem eyes travelled to Tess and the dog's ears flattened slightly, a smile. Mnem's index finger found Lo's muzzle, Tess's ears alerted and she stood. The shapely woman continued:
"She is listening to you, explore your talents and talk to your hound, all the animals will listen to you as you listen to them. You will be an Oracle to man and beast. Beware Sean, Oceanus. A fool has given him powers he cannot understand."
"The dirt rose to his arms. He is afraid, he has been lost."
"He wants to be lost. Hold Lo, talk to Lo." With that the incredible woman faced her hands together, an intense orange bloomed and fell to the ground. She stepped into it then floated away.
