The Pole Shift

Perez had lingered in the chambers, lingered for days. He had become obsessed with the goings on of the Pole Shift survivors and flicked from drone to drone to watch what they were up to. The others had gone deep into the Earth, to the Inner Ocean. If begging was part of their makeup they would have got on their knees to him saying - "Follow brother, come to the Inner Ocean, it is time for us all to be together. " Perez could not - he was addicted.

He caught glimpses of Sean's dreams, how could the drunk see the giants? They were of an age long gone and yet somehow he dreamed of them and they even seemed to sense him! How could Mnem tippy toe about befriending even the animals? Why did Janet have Mnem's crystal - what fingers manipulated that? The pods Jimmy was suppose to corral had gone their own ways, Jimmy's gathering the detritus of an old world and forging an immense Island. One stuck at the bottom of a new ocean and looking doomed. One to Sean's Island! How that? He had guided Mnem and Janet to the Island - that would be frowned on, but the others? His companion masters were outraged at his interference and Ebba had whooshed in to confront him when she learned he had spoken to Janet through Prophet.

"They will cast you out."

"Go to the Inner Ocean and tell them I cast myself out." The blonde woman looked pained, seeing the man she had known for so long consumed.

"You will start a war, they will hunt you."

"Not for thousands of years and by then I will have my own army of men."

"They will wake the giants."

"So will I." He looked at her then, and she realized he meant it. Ebba wondered what was at work here, something invisible to her, to all of them, to have hooked one of their own. Was it one of the people? Mnem? Who did he watch the most? She knew he watched them all, except for Lett and Macka who remained in the caves invisible.

"The Elite will restart around the World, they will have their demi demons in Sean, Lett, Jimmy and now it seems Janet. You cannot put yourself there as Beelzebub, we will hunt you down."

"I welcome it." Ebba paced away, her bare feet padding. It was goodbye and for a moment he nearly changed his mind. The thought of the Inner Ocean, their cradle and their womb, their Eden called him like a mother's lullaby. He felt like he was terrible and wrong, but instead of obeying those deep searing depths he turned back to the drones, making a finger movement. Sean's Island appeared in perfect detail as a hologram, he got down on one knee and watched as two men with clubs strode to Sean and Mnem. Sean was screaming for an army, help from drones but Perez muttered:

"Fuck it, I'm going to wake a giant."
