Lord Jimmy

Lord Jimmy played it like he had sixty years ago. Thousands of scenarios were on stage, intricate dances of chance and truths. His mind danced with the possibilities, not only danced but travelled along possible outcomes, strode back when the outcomes were negative and danced with the variables again.

He handled a small sphere. His Flotilla was made up of seven enormous floating Islands. Each of the teenagers that had survived the Pole Shift had, over the years, developed their own ships, their own home, their own tribe. Sometimes two of the teenagers had pared to form their own ship. Their children manned the sea crafts with power supplied by Perez.  The tribes each held their own spheres, spheres they guarded like hearts.

At his vanguard was the island of Daniel. The warrior teenager who had knocked out the Physics teacher in the Old World. The Physics teacher was depicted on his floating island as a demon, where Dan strode over him, fists flailing and subjugating.

Dan was now a man in his seventies, enormous shoulders rippled as the order came to change course. Jimmy watched as the sea heaved and all seven island craft altered passage at once. The sudden movement and acceleration was nothing to do with harnessing wind, or paddling water. Under each craft were loops, as sea water passed through them power was generated through latent fusion. Sea water was literally heated instantly to generate propulsion.  The spheres that each pilot of the football sized craft held were in effect ship wheels. Perez had explained sixty years ago:

"There was once a space faring civilization, like yours. They traveled the to the near planets, much like yours, but were a little better at it.  This is their technology."

"The Egyptians?" Asked George, sitting cross legged next to Jimmy.

                "No." Perez seemed annoyed.

"The Minoans?" Ventured Janet, her pale skin aflame with sun and salt water.

"No!" Perez had frowned, but smoothed his brow.  "Long before them, eons before. Peoples that  are all bone and cave paintings now. Understand this, you are the accumulation of the civilizations you can remember, Romans, Egyptians, Chin, Aztec, Myan and Minoan. All you can remember!" Perez passed a look over Janet and she dropped her gaze. She had been about to suggest the Vikings but pursed her lip.

"Cro Magnon." Stated Jimmy and Perez looked at him slowly, his curled hair and tanned skin framed sharp blue eyes. The Old Man smiled sadly and nodded:

"Yes, and others.  Jimmy has it, peoples that are now forgotten."

Sixty years on those puerile questions made Jimmy the Man smile. Not just man, Lord. Along with the spheres that steered their craft, Jimmy had been bestowed something else. Something he found much harder to comprehend. He had vision. As the Chinese war fleet approached, they were unaware that the peoples of the Old World resided here that had become much more than Pole Shift survivors.

The Chinese fleet, if it could be called Chinese, Himalayan was perhaps more apt, was a thousand miles away. Jimmy's mind travelled to meet them. Immediately he knew he was not alone, two twin suns travelled under the aircraft carrier, Macka and Lett. Just watching, as they always seemed to do. They were unaware of Jimmy's mind. The ancient  aircraft carrier, The Liaoning, was escorted by a dozen destroyers, a guided missile destroyer, The Wuhan, and replenishment oilers. Dozens of other craft followed, new ships, and ancient cruise liners full of people.

They are looking for homes Jimmy's mind thought. Sudden sympathy leapt upon him and his dance with time and distance abruptly ended. He was back on his floating island. Perez had appeared and he locked eyes with him.

"They will take all the lands they can find, and kill you for being here. Don't under estimate them, they know Prophet exists and is being interfaced with. They suspect some resistance, but not you, not this." Perez waved his arm at the seven floating islands. Turrets in the shape of electric transformers rose from the middle of each craft. they were connected to the loops under the ships. The same technology that propelled the craft turned sea water into plasma that could be aimed by the same spheres that steered them.

"Kill them Lord Jimmy. All of them." Perez stepped backwards and his Orange Orb gathered him up and he was gone.
