ᏩᎬᎷᏚLevi lay on his back with his left arm under his head, his right hand holding onto the ring that he had hung around his neck on a silver chain.
Sighing, he looked to the door before using the chain to pull the ring from under his shirt, pushing himself up to look at it.
He twirled the ring between his fingers, the sunlight flooding through the window giving him a good look at the blue and white gems on the top.
In the centre of the dainty gold band had a deep blue gem with two kite/diamond-shaped white stones on either side.
Levi had seen, and stolen, his fair share of expensive gems that were being sold in the black market in the underground. Rubies, emeralds, diamonds. He'd seen most of them, and he knew what they were.
But he had no clue what either of the stones on this ring were.
Furrowing just eyebrows together, he squints and moves the ring about in the sunlight, the blue gem casting hues of red and pink on the wall behind him despite the indigo colour of the stone itself.
The white stones however, didn't cast any colour as the light shone through them, but it itself started to glow and change from white to pearly blue and purple.
"What are you..?" Levi states at the no doubt expensive and rare gems before the door to the bedroom burst open.
"Levi!" Hange greeted loudly, carrying rolls of paper under her arm, the other raised to wave at him. "Y/n's looking for you-"
Levi looked at Hange with wide eyes as she looked at the ring he was holding up in front of the window, the blue gem casting the floor red and pink.
"Is that an engagement ring?!" Hange slammed the door, rushing over to sit on the bed beside him, dropping the paper roll on the mattress and ogling at the ring.
"Yes..." Levi sighs, his ears turning red.
"It's a bit soon Dont'cha think?" Hange adjusts her glasses with a smug grin.
"I'm not planning to propose." He scoffed, pulling the chair off over his head to allow her to look at it. "Mrs
L/n gave me it to me a few days ago.""Ooh..!" Hange cooed in both understanding and awe. "Any idea what these stones are?"
"She didn't say." Levi shrugged. "I was wondering the same thing."
After a moment of silence, Hange shoved the ring into her pocket and gathered her things, also grabbing onto Levi's sleeve and pulling him to the door.
"Come on!" She swung the door open and head down the hallway.
"Let go of me," he pulls back, continuing to follow her out the door.
"Where are we going, four-eyes?""To the lab!" Hange cheered. "I wanna take a look at this bad boy under my microscope!"
Levi taps his foot impatiently as he watches Hange look into a microscope, the two of them having been in complete silence since they had entered the lab.
"What is it four eyes?" He snaps. "I've been standing her for ten minutes and you haven't said shit."
Hange slowly stands from her hunched position, looking rather pale yet intrigued.
"There's really small writing on the inside of the band." She explains, stepping aside for him to take a look.
Cautiously, Levi steps forward, continuing to glare at her before putting his eye to the eye-piece and reading out loud.
"L/n." He started. "Y.732." Standing up again he crosses his arms over his chest. "So it has the family name on it, what does that matter?"
"706 is the year it was made." Hange elaborates further. "Which means those gems are from outside the wall."
Y/n huffs loudly as she pours her horse's water bucket into the grass before walking over to the well to fill it up again.
The sweat rolled down her neck and back as she started to pull the well bucket filled with water back up, gripping the rope tightly.
"Ow..." she hissed, gritting her teeth while trying to ignore the pain in her ribs as she finally get the bucket all the way up, giving her a chance to trap it and pour it into her horse's one.
After finally filling it three buckets later, she hauled it into the stable with her horse and ran off to get a hay bale from the end of the stable wrack.
"Hey." Y/n screamed, stumbling backwards into the side of the stable, gasping for breath.
"HANGE!" She laughed breathlessly. "Don't do that!"
"It's not my fault you're jumpy." Hange snickered teasingly. "But, I have a question for you."
Cocking a brow, y/n nods and reaches down to grab one of the hay bales, hoisting it into her grasp.
"Okay, shoot.""Do you know any rare gems?" Hange asked innocently, trailing along beside y/n as she walked toward the stable stalls.
"Rare gems?" Y/n laughs, snorting. "Are you asking me that because I'm from wall sina? You know I'm not a huge jewellery person."
"Pfft, noooo!" Hange waves her off, beginning to sweat lightly. "Yeah..."
Y/n laughs again, shaking her head and throwing the hay over the stable door, earning a noise of approval from her horse.
"Why do you wanna know?" She asks, turning to face Hange, leaning against the stables wall.
"I'm just curious, I'm looking for a certain material." Hange lies through her teeth, making y/n hum, scrunching her face up.
"Specifically blue or milky white!" Hange chimes again."OH!" Y/n snaps her fingers, grinning widely. "Tanzanite or moonstone!"
"Tanzanite or moonstone..?" Hange murmurs under her breath, reaching to cut her chin. "I've never heard of them."
"The family engagement ring has those on it!" Y/n pushes down hair from her face, tucking it behind her ear. "It's been passed down for generations, it's really pretty."
"Generations?" Hange coerces. "How many? Generations, that is."
"I don't know..." Y/n gives her a suspicious glance, crossing her arms over her chest. "My dad's bloodline goes back more than a hundred years or something?"
Hange purses her lips, nodding repeatedly.
"Like one hundred thirty-nine years?"Screwing her face up, y/n nods.
"Yeah, something like that..." she trails off. "Why? You're acting weird.""Oh it's nothing!" Hange assures her, starting to run off, waving over her shoulder. "Thanks though!"
Y/n watches in a confused daze Asher best friends sprints across the training fields and fading away from view.
"What was that all about..?"
