I gently pick up records from boxes and glance at the beginning letter lf each group or artist, putting them in different crates with other records in them that had the same letter at the beginning od the group or artist. Alphabetical order was the way to go.
I had high waisted blue shorts on with a white button up dress shirt tucked into my shorts, and I had my worn out black converse on. I had a red bandanna in my hair like a headband. I hear the bell at the front of the store ring, and the door slowly closing behind it. I rush to the front and see a boy with brown greased back hair and there was some spots of his hair with a slight blond tint to it, and he has a heavy blue hoodie on with dirty blue jeans. He had a friend with a mickey mouse shirt on, and his hair was in a somewhat pamapdour style.
"Good afrernoon." I say with a smile as I add a record to the Q record section.
"Hey." The boy with the blue hoodie. I noticed him from school, he has been comin in here, here and there.
My parents own this store and usually work here, but they are taking today off. Since today is Valentines Day. I didn't mind working here all by myself. Not saying that I wouldn't wanna be out and about on the rest of church street. I stand behind the counter and add some of the mix tapes i made into the box with traded mix tapes. The two young men come up to the counter and put down a couple records.
"Would tou like me to double check that these dont have scratches? " I ask my eyes focusing down on the records. The Beatles, Little Richard, and Elvis Presley.
"Sure." Answers the one with the mickey mouse shirt. I gently take each one out amd look on both side making sure there aren't any scratches.
"Are you new to Tulsa?" The one with the hoodie takes out his wallet.
"Kinda, I have been here for about a month. I came here a lot when i was a kid though and lived here for two years when i was five. So yes and no." I chuckle as i hand them the records and the one with the hoodie hands me a twenty. I put the twenty away and smile kindly as they leave.
Is it five yet? I glance up at the clock and grab my leather jacket and pick up the keys. I close up and yawn as I walk home.
Next day at school
I picked out some books at the school library, in case i run out of stuff to do at work tomorrow. I had a cherry red dress on that huged my waist but then flared out, with black leggings and of course.. my trusty converse.
I check out all the books I want and begin to leave. I kept my eyes on my shoes as I walked an- THUMP. I was on my butt and my books were scattered around me. I see a pair of white converse in front of me and I glance up. The young man that had come to the record store was before me. I scramble to pick my books up but quickly notice one was missing from the bunch, the young man held it out to me and once i took it, he helped me up.
"Im sorry! I kinda zoned out and wasn't paying attention." I stuggled a bit to find the words but in he end I said it smoothly.. but not calmy.
"Sorry i kinda zoned out a bit myself." He chuckles a bit, " Im Ponyboy Curtis. "
"Y/n L/n." I answer back as I put my backpack back on my back (wow there was a lot of back in that sentence) And for a silent moment we kinda just smiled at eachother.
"You're the girl from the record store, right?" I nod at his question.
"Yeah, and you're one of the thousands od people that come in, right? Haha, nah i remember you, you came in yesterday with some other guy." I laugh a bit and then there was... a very awkward silence.
