I unpack clothes, hanging them up in our closet. I smile at the familiar pair of clothes.
Blue high waisted shorts and a white dress shirt. I take a moment to think, and smile at the memory.
"Are you new to Tulsa?" The one with the blue hoodie takes out his wallet.
I hang the clothes up, and then walk down the short hall into our small kitchen. Pony did his homework at the table, eating a poptart for dinner.
"How have classes been?"
"Great." He smiles, look back at me, "I just need to finish this piece for class tomorrow."
"Can you read it to me?" I sit across from him.
"It isn't that good yet." He smiles, "But I'll read it to ya."
Her shirt was as white as snow
Converse constantly hiding her toes
Her eyes show the stars
She makes my heart race faster than cars
She wears a little red dress
Her books scattered
My heart pitter pattersThe damsel in distress is over rated
The best girl I have ever dated
The toughest girl in the school
She stands up to all the tools
She stands up to guys who think they're coolShe was homeless for me
She cried for me
She stuck up for me
She left her dad for meI know that I'm in love
"It really isn't that good."
I wipe away a little tear that trickles down my cheek, "Shut up, that is beautiful."
"I didn't mean to make you cry!" Pony laughs, grabbing my hand.
"You knew you were going to.." I chuckle, wiping away a tears, "Frig you, Pony."
"I'm sorry." He laughs, embracing me tightly, "I guess the poem gets bonus points for making you cry."
I kiss his cheek, "I love you."
"Love you too." He smiles.
"Everything I have ever done... it was all for you." I place my hand on his cheek, "Remember that."
"I'm thankful for it... every day."
...
Of course, we didn't have rainbows and sunshine all the time. We sometimes would bicker. Usually it is because we are both tired. Pony would go to school for hours, go to work, then come home with homework. I go to my glassblowing lessons for hours, and then work at the library till eight. I didn't have work on Sundays, but I usually went grocery shopping. I also had to sometimes get school supplies for Pony.
When we bickered, it was usually over something small... like being overly sensitive from exhaustion or if we snap at each other on accident.
We make up when we go to bed, and cuddle for the rest of the night. Sometimes we didn't make up till the next day, but every relationship has its bumps.
I have kinda just learned to give Pony distance when doing homework... cause he tends to be sensitive and snappy.. so I just leave him be.
I sit on our bed, and rub my tired eyes. It is one A.M and I woke up. Pony isn't in bed yet, and probably is still working in the kitchen. I shuffle into the kitchen and see Ponyboy's head on top of his binder. I look at him, and smile at myself. He must be exhausted. A little bit of drool came from his mouth, and I tap his shoulder.
He grunts, slowly opening his eyes.
"Come to bed. You can finish it later." I whisper, and he nods.
He slowly gets up, and follows me back into bed. He takes his shirt and jeans off, and tosses them in the dirty clothes basket. I shut the light off as he crawls into bed next to me. He snuggles his head into my shoulder, and wraps his arms around me like a child.
Then I hear his soft snores.
See, Pony and I aren't perfect. We won't ever be. We fight sometimes, and sometimes we won't talk for a while, but it doesn't make our love weak.
It makes our love stronger.
I fell in love with Pony right when he caught eyes in that record store of mine. He makes me nervous everytime he brings me on a date. I can't imagine what would've become of us if we hadn't bumped into each other at the school library... or rather.. if we hadn't met in that record store.
It all started at the record store...
