Peter's Pov

Mr. Stark blinked hard, then slowly picked up the mask.

"You're the spider-kid?" There was no way I could deny it.

"Yeah," I said quietly. I looked up at him fearfully.

"The spider-kid we've been fighting and trying to capture for weeks?" he asked. I nodded. I could feel my heart rate and breathing quickening.

"You're going to fight me, aren't you? Oh god, how could I have been so stupid? Now you're going to hate me and I'll have to live on the streets again and I'll be alone... and..." I mumbled to myself, slowly backing away. My chest hurt, and it felt like I couldn't breathe. I slumped down and buried my head in my knees.

"Peter..." A kind voice interrupted my thoughts. I didn't know who though. My head was filled with visions of my worst memories and angry voices. Or maybe just my voice.

Nat's Pov

I watched as Peter slowly backed away and crumpled on the ground. The Avengers began to argue amongst themselves, but I don't think Peter heard. He looked like he was having a panic attack.

"Get out!" I interrupted sharply, and they just began to notice Peter on the floor. "We'll finish this conversation later," Stark looked like he wanted to argue, but decided against it and left.

"Peter..." I said, crouching next to my маленький паук, "Peter, you need to breathe or you're going to pass out," His eyes were unfocused, and I didn't think he saw me. "Alright peter, try to match my breathing," I said, placing his hand gently on my chest. "In... out... in... out..." I breathed deeply so he could feel my chest moving, and slowly his breathing slowed down.

"мама паук?" He whispered. My heart wanted to shatter at the pain in his voice. Quickly I pulled him into a tight hug as he began to sob.

"It's okay, Peter," I soothed. "No one's going to hurt you. We're not angry," He sniffed and pulled away to look me in the eyes.

"You're not?"

"Not at all!" I forced a small smile, "Maybe a little surprised, but you're family Peter. Spider-kid or not!" Peter smiled in relief, and quickly stood up and brushed all the leftover tears away. Steve the dog picked up his mask from where Stark had dropped it and bounded over to Peter. Peter took it, but his smile diminished. "What about Mr. Stark?" he asked, "Will he be mad?" I practically snorted.

"Doesn't matter. He's going to have to answer to me if he says even one unkind word to you." Peter grinned at this. "Let's go find them,"

The fellow Avengers had gathered in the hallway, muttering quietly and looking exceptionally guilty. Tony immediately surged forward and began fretting over Peter, clearly remembering all the injuries he had been given. It was Clint who spoke up.

"So... Spiderman, huh? How..." He trailed off.

"I guess your boss will want to know," Peter said glumly. He followed reluctantly to the meeting room where Fury could usually be found. Sure enough, there he was.

"I see you brought in the Spider-man." Fury stated, looking up from the files on the table. Tony nodded, assuming a somewhat protective stance next to Peter. Fury narrowed his eyes slightly at him. "Are you going to tell me who you are or do I have to guess? The rest of the team already knows."

"Peter Parker, sir!" Peter said, enthusiastic as always, but I could sense the waver of fear in his voice. "Sir, why did you insist on bringing me in? I'm just trying to do some good in the world." Peter sounded very scared, almost desperate.

"I know that, Spidey. You would be an Avenger level threat if you went rogue, although I doubt that's going to happen. I sent the team to find out as much about you as possible, capture you if necessary." At this Peter wheeled around to glare at the team.

"You never gave us any information!" Tony defended.

"You never asked!" Peter retaliated. Tony rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly and gave Peter an innocent smile.

"Whoops?" Peter sent him one last glare and turned back around to a less than impressed Fury. Fury paused before his next sentence.

"Would Spiderman be interested in becoming an Avenger?" Peter's jaw dropped. "I've seen you fight. Your skills would be a real asset to the team." Fury stated, sounding very sincere before his stoic manner returned, "Unless of course you prefer swinging around in your pajamas?" Peter overcame his shock and began rambling.

"What?! Of course I would like to be an Avenger! Who wouldn't? Would I need to tell everyone my identity though, because I don't want my friends to get hurt! I mean, I only have two unless you include you guys and my Aunt May, but it would still put them in danger. MJ could probably fend for herself but Ned might not- then again, he did manage to hack S.H.I.E.L.D... Did you know we did that? Sorry Mr. Fury, sir! Can you not put my identity in there if I become an Avenger? I don't want other hacker people to find it... Oh, I'm rambling again, aren't I?" At this Peter paused. How he managed to spit all that out without taking a breath, I had no idea. Fury himself looked mildly surprised.

"Only I would have to know your identity. It doesn't even have to go in the files." Fury replied. Peter grinned brightly, practically glowing.

"Thank you Mr. Fury, sir!" He made to leave with the rest of the Avengers.

"Peter?" Fury interrupted, "Tell your friend Ned that if he hacks S.H.I.E.L.D. and changes all the names again, I won't hesitate to send a few agents after his ass." Peter nodded. We followed him out of the meeting room. "So, Peter," I said, smiling as I put my arm on his shoulders, "How does it feel to be an Avenger?"

Peter's Pov

"Pretty great!" I replied, laughing.

"I can't believe Fury didn't kill him!" Mr. Wilson was saying.

"Did your friend really hack into S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Mr. Barton asked.

"I know he did!" Mr. Rogers interrupted him, "He changed my name into Grandpa Frisbee on all the official documents." Laughter echoed through the group as we made our way down the halls. I noticed that Mr. Stark wasn't laughing as hard as the rest.

"Pete?" He asked with a pained expression, pulling me aside. "Can I talk to you about something?" He looked pretty uncomfortable just with the idea of it, but I nodded. "Peter, um... I wanted to apologise for what happened earlier. I wasn't mad at you, just... surprised!" I must have looked confused or worried, because his face softened. "Pete, we would never hate you for being Spiderman. You're my kid! Part-spider or not!" I smiled at Mr. Stark. He smiled back and put his arm on my shoulders as we walked back down the hallway. When we reached the elevator though, his face turned stern. "F.R.I.D.A.Y.? Take us to the medbay," I made a noise of protest and tried to slip away, but his grip turned to iron. (Pun totally intended.) "I can't let my spider-kid live with injuries from his own family members," He said with a smirk as we walked to the medbay. I huffed in retaliation, though I couldn't help but smile.

"Thanks... dad."
