The night continued in a grim mood. Issac was mourning and comforting people really wasn't my strong suit. I ordered us Mexican as I knew he loved it.
There we laid, both of us with so much loss.
Our parents. Our friends.
I took the time to appreciate the things I had whilst I ran my fingers through Issac's curly hair as he soaked my t-shirt.
I will forever be thankful that Kate had left me so much money. I doubt I'll ever have to worry as long as I'm not wasteful.
I'm thankful for Chris and Allison. Whilst I'm not as close with them as I would like, they're all the family I have left. Well, apart from Gerard.
Issac turns up to me with his flooded blue eyes.
"Atti?"
I merely hummed in response, still playing with his hair and chewing my gum.
"I think I wanna date your cousin," he says completely out of left field. "Don't get me wrong, I love what we have, and I'll always love you as a friend. It's just," he pauses.
"What it is?" I massage his scalp reassuringly.
He looks away from me but relaxes into my touch, "I know you still like Stiles, and I know he still likes you. You two have something special, you bring out the best in each other. I know he'd never admit it, but he's better with you around."
"I think your right," I kiss the top of his curly hair. "Good luck with Allison though, you hurt her. Just so happens to have a cousin and father who used to professionally hunt what you are."
Issac snapped his head towards me at a speed which would induce whiplash to any human. He relaxes again when he saw my smirking face.
"Derek always made you Argent's out to be monster, brutes. Evil axe wielding murderers here to dest..."
"I got it!" I interrupted Issac as he rambled on.
He blushed lightly, "even though you've sliced me up like dinner, you let me stay with you, make me food, turn off the smoke alarm when I burn food. You're a good guy Atticus."
With that he fell asleep on my chest. The troubled wolf boy so at peace and comfort with me, perhaps I'm not a monster after all.
The next morning Issac was curled up knees to chest next to me. I kissed his head and went over to Deaton. I needed some guidance now, more than ever.
"It's not your fault Atticus, you'd be a fool to blame yourself," Deaton lectured me after I told him of what happened to Boyd, "he was already drained completely by Derek. Not even the Darach's ritual power could have saved him."
My attitude was rough and coarse.
"I feel weak, helpless. Why am I doing this if I can't save people?" I raised my tone towards Deaton.
He closed the gap between him and I, challenging my poor behaviour.
"You're not weak because you care despite what you learned as a hunter. You have a reason to stand up, to change things."
I turned and hit the metal table in frustration, "what can I do? The alpha pack are tormenting Derek's pack, the Darach is murdering people and I can't get myself together."
A firm hand on my shoulder reassured me.
"Scott's eyes turned red," the vet said in a matter of fact way.
My entire body turned towards the man, he had my undivided attention.
"A true alpha?"
"And I think you should be his emissary. I'll be here to guide you and Scott, but together I think you can achieve great things."
I raised an unconvinced eyebrow, "are you sure? You have far more knowledge than me."
"I won't be around forever Mr Argent, and with the state of things we could all use a little extra help."
I nodded before I remembered last night.
"And I've got to patch things up with Stiles."
Alan Deaton beamed at this, "it's about time, his sadness has been prominent recently. You two belong together."
After further conversations I collected more advanced books to read up on druidry, I am going to get better and I will be Scott's Emissary, shall he have me.
When I arrived at school, I was greeted by a well-recovered goalkeeper who nearly ripped my door open. He lunged towards me throwing all his body weight on top of me and clamped his arms around me in a tight hug.
"Stripper and now guardian angel? Is there nothing you can't do?"
I haven't seen Danny since Melissa and I saved him. As well as staying with him a little the next day.
"How about not breathing with you crushing me?" I mock you get him off me.
We get out of my car and catch up a little on our way to class.
"How's things going with Issac?" Danny asked.
I looked at him and didn't respond right away.
"Thank god!" He praised up to the heavens.
I looked at him confused at this outburst.
"You figured it out didn't you? Who you really should be pursuing, I told you at the rave. I'm glad you're finally listening to me again."
"Smart kid," I punched his arm mockingly as we continued down the hall.
As we continued, Danny told me that he would be playing in the orchestra this evening to remember the dead. I immediately insisted I come and support him. Danny meant the world to me and I was going to be there to support my friend.
I'm going to bring him flowers for the end, lily's I think.
